“Of course I’ll do them with you.” Kaliyah giggled, her heart fluttering with joy. They stayed like that for a while, enjoying each other's warmth. Then, with a soft breath, Kaliyah straightened slightly. “Okay… time for the fruit game.” Levi grinned. “Alright.” She rose up reached into the picnic basket, pulling out the fruits he brought which were strawberries, bananas, apples, watermelon, even a few carrot sticks and grapes. “You know, I don’t like mixing different fruits in the same basket.” I blinked at the sudden topic shift—but welcomed it. “Different fruits have different ripening times,” she continued. “Mixing them can bruise the softer ones, and sometimes the flavors mingle in ways I don’t want.” I nodded thoughtfully, setting my basket down and pulling out the empty one I’d tucked underneath. “Good thing there’s more than one basket,” I said, transferring the firmer apples to the new one and leaving the peaches in the first. Matilda’s eyes crinkled, clearly pleased.
