Leo carefully brought out the contents of the basket, with unhurried movements he began to remove the food from the basket placing them on the table one by one. The treats included a Caprese sandwich, cedar cheese, green salad, potato chips with guacamole dips, cookies then apples, and finally, some iced tea as a refreshment. When he finished bringing out everything, he kept the basket on the floor. "Who guides this place when no one is around?" She asked curiously. Since they arrived, she had not spotted a single soul in sight.

Hilda says, walking towards me. "Yes. It's so sad they would not be mine." I reply, adding a smile to conceal my sadness. "It's okay. It's business." Mum pats my hair. "We got you some fruits. They are in the basket." She adds, hoping to change the topic. I look to see the hand woven basket filled with apples, grapes and kiwis at the top of the mini refrigerator, covered in polka dots napkin. I turn to her. "Thank you, mum."

To win votes for the school's annual honors award, my stingy roommate picked rotten fruit out of the trash and made it into fruit cups for our classmates. The moment I found out, I rushed to stop them from eating it. Instead, they accused me of being jealous and tore into me for trying to ruin their chances. That very night, they were rushed to the hospital with severe food poisoning. Afterward, my roommate framed me, claiming I had deliberately poisoned the fruit because I did not want her to win the school honors award. I looked in the basket to see a bunch of seed packets. “So we’ve already started sprouting some vegetables for this season. But I’d love your input on fruits for the next? What’s your favorite fruit?” he asks and then quickly adds, “And please don’t name something that grows on a tree - we’re just not there yet.”

The fruit’s fragrance wafted over, making Katelyn's gut declare its needs unabashedly. Xoey’s eyes were immediately drawn to the Luna’s belly. “Oh, you’re hungry?” She took out another apple from her left pocket and extended her left hand. “Here, you can have it.” "Keep that germ-infested thing to yourself!" Katelyn spat. "Oh?" Xoey lifted a brow as she kept back the fruit. "Really?" She asked again before taking another bite from the apple in her right hand. "I'm not done yet with my assigned task, and you're preventing me from doing that!" The Luna snapped.

“That’s too heavy for you.” I looked at the basket. Then back, at her. "It’s apples.” “It’s a basket of apples.” “It doesn’t weigh as much as Kai’s pride.” One of the gardeners nearby chuckled. Mrs. Harlow crossed her arms. She was calm like she already knew she was right. “It’s still not happening.” Before I could say anything Kian appeared and took the basket. When Kenzie was about to fetch an eggplant, Kate said, “An eggplant that's curved upward." “Ahhh!” Gaby screamed. Kenzie winked at her sister, giving Kate a thumbs up! “Got ya!”

"Trey, it's about time you got here. Simone and I have been having ourselves a nice chat." Trey squints his eyes at both of us as he walks farther into the building. Under his right arm, he carries a basket wrapped in clear cellophane. The short round wicker basket has two handles raised to the sides to help keep in the pile of fruit from spilling over the edge. The rich brown color of the basket contrasts against the brightly colored bananas, apples, and oranges inside the plastic wrap. He slides the basket across the desk top to me. "A first day gift."
