I saw him dialing his cellphone, but I turned it off, so I won’t be able to receive any messages and calls today, especially coming from Ethan. Protecting him means staying away from him. I walked towards the bed and lay my back down on the soft mattress. I closed my eyes and remembered the taste of his blood. I swallowed hard, suddenly getting hungry, but not for the food. It was not even hunger for Ethan’s blood. My eyelids open, glancing at the digital calendar on my bedside. I had to be careful around Ethan because the moon would be full a few days from now, and I had to remind myself to stay away from him until the new phase of the moon.
