"Picking me up for what? Lunch?" Mum’s face went slack. Her eyes widened, and then narrowed into slits of maternal fury. "Oh, for the love of..." she slammed the cookbook down. "Don't tell me he didn't tell you." "Tell me what?" I asked, a bad feeling curling in my gut. "Today is the full moon, Luna," Mum said, her voice tight. "The first full moon since the transition. Tonight is the Pack Gathering." She rubbed her temples, looking like she wanted to strangle someone. Probably Liam.

I tell him and he nods. “We have about a month til the next full moon. We’ll think of something.” He whispers, pulling me back to him. I shake my head. “It’s not the full moon we need to worry about.” I tell him and he looks at me confused. “It’s the red moon.” I whisper and he looks like he’s considering it. “Well, that’s good. There’s only one a year.” He tells me and I give him a small smile. He grimaces, “It’s not going to be better, is it?” He asks, and I shake my head.

I cleared my throat slightly, glancing at Miriam. “So… what’s the full moon like?” I asked. Her knife paused for just a second before continuing. “It’s a lovely evening,” she said. “The whole pack gathers. There’s music, food… a ball.” “A ball?” I repeated, frowning. Before Miriam could elaborate, Elena perked up instantly. “Yes!” she said, pushing herself off the counter and coming closer. “It’s huge. You have no idea. Everyone dresses up, the hall is decorated, there’s dancing—”

The moon hung heavy and crimson in the night sky, casting a blood-red glow over the sprawling grounds of the Blood Moon Packhouse. Wolves moved like shadows across the snow, laughter and music spilling from the great hall where the celebration roared. The rare Blood Full Moon was a night of power—a night when bonds were strengthened, instincts sharpened, and dominance reaffirmed.
