The kind tone of the woman brought a brief respite from the coldness she had endured. After a few minutes, as the final course was cleared and guests began to leave, Stephanie slowly made her way back to the dining room. She gathered her belongings and stepped out into the cool night air. The mansion loomed behind her, its lights flickering as if in silent judgment. In the solitude of the entrance hall, Stephanie paused to look back through the large windows. Inside, she could see the murmurs continuing, the silent voices of a family that had already made its decision about her.

We arrive home in no time, where Austin begins to make dinner.
