He glanced at me, mumbled something whilst shaking his head and burst into laughter. I liked when he laughed. That time in the woods he'd laughed too when I stoned him with the ball of snow. But now that I was very close to him, I noticed the way his lips curved up more to one side than the other and how dimples on either side of his face appeared towards the end of his chin, the way his eyes slanted and his grey eyes flickered with light. I sat there listening to him laughing and chortle for a while before I forged on. 'She felt very insulted', I added with mock sévérité (severity). 'Oh dear, I hadn't mean to insult her. I had meant it only as a joke'.

I straightened up and grinned at her. I was glad she could too. “When you were crying earlier, you looked honestly ugly.” I gasped dramatically. “I did not.” She made a face at me. “Keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep well at night. Let me tell you, you looked like a bush ferret lips all quivering and shit – and not the cute kind.” I playfully pushed at her. “You!” “Yeah? Me what?” she asked giving me the side eye. We both glared at each other for a while before bursting into a fit of giggles.

༺RAYNE༻ I blink once, my mouth parting wide open. I blink again, my eyes roaming over Mr Everhart’s face. And in that instant, I burst into a loud, hearty laugh. Heaven knows I haven’t laughed this hard in ages. “Oh, Mr Everhart, I didn’t realize you had a sense of humour,” I say, shaking my head as my laugh fades into a low chuckle. Mr Everhart glares at me, one of his eyebrows wrinkled. “Excuse me?”

A chilling frown shadows his face. My brows rise. When I turn back around, it is to meet Sofia's slack-jawed look. "Did you guys just eye-fuck each other?" I notice I've started to attract gazes. Fed up, I stare right back, lifting a brow. Some huff, looking away.

This feels a little too intimate for me. “I know what side eye you’re talking about. I don’t care who you are she makes you feel small every time she hits you with that look.” I say trying not to feel what Oliver’s closeness is doing to me. I keep telling myself, don’t make it awkward, don’t make it awkward. “I think she knows her side eyes are lethal that’s why she uses them to scare the life out of people.” He says laughing.

Skye asked, almost shouting in annoyance. She turned around to face me, and I almost cracked aloud in laughter, looking at her. The fiery flash of her eyes warned me not to annoy her further, so I swallowed my mirth by frowning. Skye turned around to look at the mirror again. My shoulder shook as I laughed silently, but I cleared my throat when she turned her head to look at me again.

He caught it without looking up. She stared at him. “How did you—” “Peripheral vision.” He set the pen down. “Also you always throw things when I’m right.” “I’ve never thrown anything at you before.” “You’ve wanted to.” He looked at her over the top of the page. “Several times. I’ve been waiting.” She stared at him. Then she laughed. Properly. The surprised kind. The kind that came out before she approved it. He watched her laugh with an expression she felt across the room.

I shake my head. I am expecting more of his arrogant remark but then he just burst out laughing like a little kid. I hissed in annoyance and turn my gaze at him but I stop upon seeing him. His eyes are flashing a bright smile, the corner of his lips is twitching and his eyes crinkle in the corner flashing an expression of amusement.

A squeeze, eyes dimming, features twisting, face scowling, then out of nowhere… Laughter. His lips stretched, spread out and morphed into a big laughter. A. Big. Fat. Laughter. “Ha! Brown eyes, didn’t know you had it in you!” he let out, loud. “Bastard? Really, bastard?? Haha!” His voice rang out. Laughter increasing the more time he spent laughing, glancing at me and then everything around us. The sides of his eyes were all creased, but beautifully so. Head thrown back alive, chest and body visibly shaking, the glasses spilling drinks.

The more she thought about her foiled plans, the angrier she became, resulting in her accidentally dropping the baby out of rage. "This is your fault! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have gotten to this point in life! Die!" A loud thud sounded. Blood was splattered all over Marcus' pale face. As Sylvia cackled at the top of her lungs while walking out of the ward, a teardrop slid down Marcus' cheek from his closed eyes. Unfortunately, those eyes would never open ever again.
