I want like this.” No one knew what like this meant, including God, but Sebastian had already taken Bunny from her without comment, and I—for some reason—was already straightening the navy ribbon in her hair. Poppy’s little fingers brushed my wrist when she tipped her face up to me. “Don’t go home right away after this,” she whispered conspiratorially. “I still want to tell stories.”

Immediately I say this, the room goes very quiet. I can still hear the clink of bottles, and the shifting of bodies on the couch, but no one is laughing anymore. Why though, it was a dare they gave me----- "Tell your deepest fantasy." Why are they all so quiet now? This is embarrassing. “I…” I try to chuckle, but it comes out as a strangled sound. "It's... just a fantasy.” Still no one says anything in reply and just stare at me awkwardly. Finally, my best friend clears her throat, "Okay... who's up for the next dare?"

They never stopped looking because family always sticks together.” Mika’s eyes began to droop as I continued the story, her breathing slowing into a steady rhythm. By the time Lily the bunny was safe and sound back home, Mika was fast asleep, her hand clutching her stuffed bunny.
