He lifelessly lay on my best friend's thighs with his eyes closed, looking completely at peace. I fell to my knees, feeling this numbness set in as I blankly stared at the sight before me. Almost robotically, I reached out and carded my fingers through his brown and black fur. His body was already beginning to get cold. He was an old dog but he showed no signs of giving in to death so soon. This made no sense.
