Caroline's Point of View Every day, I’m more determined. My fingers smudged with graphite as I trace over the delicate lines of the design. It’s almost there, but not quite perfect. The competition’s theme is “Celestial Beauty,” inspired by the stars, the universe, and everything beyond. I take a deep breath, letting the idea settle into my mind. It’s perfect. I’ve always been fascinated by astrology and the night sky, and I already have an idea for my design. My sketches are rough, but the vision is there: a necklace inspired by zodiac signs, with intricate details that represent the unique energy of each sign.

For me, life is so bleak and unenchanting. Sighing, I lift my body off the window and walk back to the desk where my coffee sits, waiting. Whisking it carefully, I lift it to my lips and take a careful sip, savoring the taste a little longer than necessary. Needing something to keep me occupied, I decided to sketch something; maybe milky ways, black holes, or planets. Those are always fun to sketch. Rummaging through the drawer, I find my sketchpad, a pencil, and an eraser. Sinking into the cushioned straight-back chair, I begin to sketch nothing until it somehow morphs into something, well, someone rather. I always end up subconsciously sketching him.

So that means getting going now. Having a blank page for a commission, and getting started on it, that’s two different things.
