Zelda Sketches Novels & Stories

"Is there space for writing on it?" Riley smiled. "Not with this particular one. Until my arm is less swollen, this is only a fictitious one. You can write on one of those colored ones that I get to keep. "Very cool," Finn remarked. "What game are you playing? He gave the Nintendo a nod. "Zelda." "The most recent one?" Riley gave a headshake. Nope. They just have this old console instead of the new one, but because it's Ocarina of Time, it's still cool, he shrugged.

My curiosity piqued as I stared at it, curious to know more about the sketch she was making on it. Unable to hold back my interest and curiosity about the sketch and that dude, I left my seat and sat on hers as I unzipped her bag, took out the notebook and opened it on the desk. It was filled with a lot of sketches and drawings which amazed me because I had never thought that Lisa was this good at making a well detailed sketch. The sketch continued with a drawing of a blonde girl who stood at the window frame of her room, pinging on her phone and then on the other side, the unknown figure lurked above the rooftop of the mansion.

Now I stared at proof that he had been right. Zander had never seen me. Not until I walked into his life myself. The realization slid under my skin slowly. He was searching for me. For years. The sketches weren’t random. They were progression studies. Age estimates. Predictions. He had been trying to imagine the woman I would become. Why? My stomach twisted violently. Did he want to kill me too? My heart slammed so hard against my ribs it hurt. Each beat felt like a fist punching from the inside. The images stopped changing.

Zelda stared at me, her eyes wide with a mixture of surprise and concern. "Why did you jump directly from the second floor!" I reached her, putting my arm around her waist. "Didn't you ask me to come here?" She had, but not by such a dramatic route. Zelda glanced at my long legs, then shrugged, giving up on her protest. "Come here," she said, pulling me into the pavilion and handing me a pair of scissors. She stood beside a red pillar, marked with her height measurements from childhood to adulthood. "James, can you help me fill in this last line of height now?" she asked, her smile bright and expectant. "Why did you suddenly think of this?" I asked a hint of amusement in my voice.

After that, Zelda wanted to grab Regina's collar but missed her again. Everyone was surprised. They didn't know when Regina could move and dodge so quickly. As all eyes turned to Regina, Zelda wanted to beat her to death. Zelda couldn't catch Regina time by time, so she lost her mind even more. Finally, Zelda stretched out her long claws and intended to scratch Regina's face.

Ozzie has seventeen sketches of the eastern limestone outcrop. He has had them since before I knew the outcrop existed. He shows me when I come to his apartment with Rael after the hillside — spreading the sketchpad pages across his kitchen table with the organised energy of a man who processes everything through the ordering of visual information and has learned, since the formation became real, that what he draws is not always what he thinks he is drawing.

“Ruth — the sample maker — found problems in my drawings I didn’t know were there and fixed them better than I’d have fixed them. And it didn’t feel like being told I was wrong. It felt like being helped to say the thing I was trying to say.” I turned my glass on the table. “I’ve spent four years being corrected to make me smaller. I forgot there’s another kind. The kind that makes the work bigger.” He watched me for a moment. “Show me,” he said. I had brought the sketches without quite deciding whether I would show him. They were in my bag by the door — the three newest, the ones that came after the dress, the direction Sorrel was growing in. Nobody had seen them. Not Helen yet.

Quick, Zelda is two years old, she's learning to speak. In the evening, while giving Zelda milk to drink, Ella watched TV with her husband. David saw Zelda bring her hand to her mouth, he frowned, reaching out to remove her hand from her mouth. Ella smiled. "Please carry Zelda." David shook his head. "I do not like it."

Zelda declared, guiding me back to the vanity. She worked quickly but skillfully. A hint of silver shimmer on my eyelids, a light amount of eyeliner and mascara, and just enough blush to give my cheeks a healthy glow. “Much better,” she said, standing back to admire her work. “Now you actually look pregnant, not like you swallowed a football.” I laughed, relieved to see myself looking more like… well, myself. Zelda helped me with my hair next, loosely curling it so it fell in soft waves down my back, with just a few small braids woven with silver thread.

It was a labyrinth of hurdles, requiring precise timing and strategic maneuvering. She gracefully leaped over each obstacle, her muscles flexing with every graceful movement.
