Even though she did not quite resemble the woman I remembered, I still managed to remember that I had given Naomi this gown.
She pulled her hand back awkwardly, and there was a look of dejection in her eyes that she would never be able to put to words.
I turned from her and started walking away, but Naomi blocked my path.
While stammering, she said, “You don’t even want to say a single thing to me anymore? I know that I was wrong!”
Then, her voice turned softer, and it even quivered. “But I heard that you were coming here, and I waited for you. Aren’t you curious about my life right now?”
