One of the warriors stepped forward with his sword in his hand. "Glad you remember me!" I sneered as I ambled toward them. "We'll never forget you, Thorin. You are a traitor, and you killed one of us!" The other warrior responded. He also prepared to attack as he swung his sword at me. However, I had just gripped the blade, ignoring the blood spouting on my palm. "What are you doing?" He asked and was shocked when he saw me not affected by the wound. "You are not hurt!" He added. The rest of the warriors immediately surrounded me, preparing for a show.

“You’re rogues. We don’t let your kind walk straight into the Alpha’s territory without clearance.” General Thorne appeared before things could escalate. He had already been told of their arrival and so he stepped forward. His presence was enough to make the warriors part. “They’re with me,” General Thorne said, glancing briefly at Shadow and Runa. His voice was curt, no room for argument. “Bring them in. Now.” The warriors hesitated for only a second before lowering their guard. General Thorne didn’t bother with small talk. He turned on his heel, motioning for them to follow.

“There’s no need for us to surrender. We were never fighting.” I knew then that this was Thistlethorn. Just like Alpha Skylar and Scarlett had been discussing. This was a peaceful pack. They refused to fight. They remained neutral through all the wars of the past two hundred years. And now? These warriors were slaughtering them. Women, children, seniors. It didn’t matter.
