Gareth emerged, carrying a wooden tray laden with sliced Honeycrisp apples and two tall glasses of chilled orange juice. He was dressed in a simple white crew-neck t-shirt and charcoal lounge shorts. It was a dangerously casual look for a man with a jawline that could probably cut glass. Every time I saw him like this—stripped of the stoic business exterior—my internal monologue tended to malfunction. “What’s all the racket? Did someone win the lottery?”

Delta Valor left to inform Alpha Logan about our arrival, and we hauled our bags, boxes and luggage into the houses. Greta was struggling with a heavy box, and Agatha yelled at her with a large stack of books in her hands, “You're too young to be tired, Greta.” Greta Coleman was Agatha’s granddaughter and amongst the most powerful witches in our coven. “And you're too old to be alive, but here we are, grandma.” She retorted with a smirk on her lips, and I snapped my gaze at her with a stern glance, suppressing the laughter that tried to elude me.

"Ours are old gargoyles from Ireland," Meg explained. "Deke was born here, so he doesn't seem to know about our history."

Sara had always thought that had been slightly weird, but she never said anything for fear of her aunt's reaction. Garett always got a look in his eyes that betrayed his feelings and possible actions. A glint in those eyes was enough to ensure they would be cackling later in the loft of the barn when no adult was around. Though he wasn’t outright mean to her aunt, he did get his shots in when he could. It was no secret that he didn’t like her, nor did any of his siblings though none acted like him.

Our future breeds will be born as Vaewolves, they will be a hybrid of mine and Garret’s blood. Ugh… what am I even thinking?! I swear sometimes I overthink way too much, and I have to thank my mom for that. I cannot let any of that happen so it is better to be safe. I walked into Joy's and today everything was very normal. Everyone was chatting, eating their food and enjoying their time. I spotted Garret who was behind the counter and I saw him looking at me with a smile. His smile was soft as if he didn’t just kill one of the humans working here, and threatened me to keep my mouth shut.
