My Gangster Babysitter

My Gangster Babysitter

“I turned 28 last January 25th. I know you’re 23. When’s your birthday?” “March 1st…” our question remained on safe topics like we’re answering a damn slam book. The more I learned about his favorite food, places, and hobbies, I realized that Kai was no different from any other man his age. It made me wonder how he ended up working for the Italian mafia, so I dared ask, “how… How come you are working for the mafia?” He said he served in the Army, did two tours in Iraq, and even received a medal of honor, silver star, and distinguished service cross. He was a well-decorated soldier, someone who’s above the law, and now he’s working under it.

Another great book in this series. I highly recommend the entire series, including this book. I wish there were a few more chapters or an epilogue. You should definitely read book 3 before this, if not 1, 2, and 3.

He joined the marines at the age of eighteen and served in the military for ten years. Whenever people asked him on why he enlisted, he’d tell them it was because of his father Dan. THE ARMY PILOT

THE ARMY PILOT

MICAELA’S POV Having had such a hard time growing up Micaela had always wanted to join the army when she grew up to prevent the bad guys from harming people. For most people joining the army, the reasons were varying between wanting to serve their country or the motivation from a role model growing up. To Micaela, the decision to join the army came from one event that happened in her life that left her traumatized. She had a normal childhood with a few best friends in her corner and loving parents who adored her so much.

Jenny sat sideways facing him, her feet pulled up beneath her. Did I ask the wrong question? she scribbled, frowning slightly. He flicked a glance at her board. "It's okay," he shrugged. "I don't mind." She nodded, as though his response satisfied her somehow, and she watched him, waiting for him to start. He took another sip of bourbon. "I enlisted in the Marines right after high school. I was never interested in college, so the military seemed like the next logical step. After Basic, I was sent to Afghanistan for a year as an infantry Marine."

Strikethrough Book One - Strike Zone Series

Gannon pulled out a chair and handed over a water. “Where were we, twelve years ago? My first deployment meant that I was growing testicular fortitude in the Ghan.” “Me too.” Gannon chuckled. “For those first couple of years, I lived and breathed sand, sun, and gunpowder.” In Afghanistan, Gage had been doing the same—he hadn’t paid much attention to developing news in the States. Glancing up from the screen, he elaborated, “A sniper shot her parents—in front of Chantal. Her father died instantly.”

Twisted Pain

Sometimes I wondered if what I was doing with those men was romantic in nature, or was it just for a show? I didn’t get why they never really got lose themselves with me. One time I listened to Brad telling his friends dating me was like living in a military camp, and my family was the general of the military. I didn’t understand his words at that time, still couldn’t cope with his words.

So when Adam broached the subject, she was ready to provide him with the carefully crafted story she had concocted about his father's disappearance. Sarah explained to Adam that his father had been a soldier in the army, bravely serving his country. One day, while on duty, he had been captured by the enemy, and despite the best efforts of his fellow soldiers, he had never returned home. It was a simple yet poignant tale, one that allowed Adam to understand why his father was not a part of his life.

Alpha Promise

Alpha Promise

“I’ve been living in a military camp outside the city. They hired me to work the kitchen. It’s what I’ve been doing for the past six years. Two days ago, the general came to our camp and sent me on a mission to discover what happened to rangers who disappeared a week ago. He gave me the gunpowder to sell in Hell’s Market where the rangers were last seen. I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now.” “Is it normal to ask someone who works in the kitchen to do something like this?” “I’m the only civilian in camp. He said it was safer for me to try than it was for one of his men.” “That’s bullshit and you know it,” he said succinctly. “I decided yesterday that I wouldn’t be going back. That d

Married to My Enemy

Married to My Enemy

After making sure my family was settled in the capital, Malcolm and I set off for the military camp. There was no scheming or deception, only discipline and order. It felt like I had found myself again, doing what I was always meant to do. The only thing that occasionally unsettled me was the letters Yuvan sent every few days. Every line he wrote was full of longing and regret. To me, they were nothing more than a joke—something to pass the time. I never wrote back. Two years passed in the military camp in the blink of an eye. When war broke out at the border, I went with the troops to defend it.
