I browsed the shelves, and I read the titles. I paused in front of a book that I deemed the most interesting. I pulled it out of the shelf and stared at it, contemplating whether to get on with it or not. I can't forget those days when everyday I used to see the dead corpses, carcasses of young women and innocent children. It is hard to forget that mother who was calling her young son, who lost his life in the war. The sorrow of widows and the cries of little orphan kids. Everything was melting my heart and I couldn't do anything for them. Now it's even hard to narrate this story but, don't worry I will never miss a single thing to mention in my narration because I'm the best narrator you got.

MICAELA’S POV Having had such a hard time growing up Micaela had always wanted to join the army when she grew up to prevent the bad guys from harming people. For most people joining the army, the reasons were varying between wanting to serve their country or the motivation from a role model growing up. To Micaela, the decision to join the army came from one event that happened in her life that left her traumatized. She had a normal childhood with a few best friends in her corner and loving parents who adored her so much.

He could not help but feel a little angry. Immediately afterward, he said arrogantly, “Ten Thousand Armies is a mercenary organization that has gathered all of the top mercenaries in the world together. Many of our soldiers are soldiers who have served in the special forces in their countries. More than half of Hamed’s soldiers are illiterate. So, how can this possibly be the same thing? The difference between these two is even bigger than the difference between the United States and Zimbabwe!”

AMARACHI'S POV. Whoever wrote that article in the school's student journal must be very stupid. He/She probably has a personal issue with Christabel. Nothing in that article is right. Christabel never begged Jeff to have sex with her. This crazy! Who would have done this? I don’t think Jeff did this but apart from Ade, Michelle and me, no one else knows that Christabel likes Jeff. Taking one more look at the article, I hissed and annoyingly left the page. The comments were very nasty.

The people were on edge, unsure of what was coming and when. Aric and Kaida did their best to reassure them, but they knew that words could only do so much. And then, one day, it happened. The skies darkened, and a vast army marched towards the kingdom, their banners flying high and their weapons glinting in the sun. “Why do you want to be in the army Miss West?” I swallowed hard before answering. “I was fourteen when I first really learned what the army did. I always had a notion before that but no real idea of the specifics. The day I learnt that people in the army killed other people I was horrified but it only lasted a minute. The infected that you kill Sir, they aren't people, they are animals, monsters. They are responsible for the deaths of millions, the suffering of millions. They are the reason we live the way we do. Trapped behind concrete walls, fearing the outside.”

They talked for what seems like forever before Hussain entered his mother's room. He greeted her happily. "Hussain, why didn't you tell your wife about the journey" his mother scolded him.

“Someone whose brother was in the army told my friend that they only ate canned beans and then she told me.” He shook his head, still smiling. “That’s not true. It’s just one of the stories soldiers tell people to make the army sound dramatic and intense.” “Are you sure?” “I’m positive. Being in the army doesn’t mean you eat only beans. They need proper nutrients too.” I nodded thoughtfully. “Well… that makes sense.” I hesitated. “If you don’t mind me asking… What unit were you in?” “I was in the 1st SFOD-Delta.”
