The Butcher's Bride
Kaelen rumbled softly.
"Sorry, Alpha," Jinx mumbled, looking ashamed. "I just... I drank from the stream near the north ridge. I was thirsty."
Kaelen’s hand stilled. His jaw tightened.
"The north stream," Kaelen repeated, his voice dropping to a dangerous register. "I told you that sector was off-limits."
"I know," Jinx whispered. "I'm sorry."
"Rest now," Kaelen commanded, smoothing the blanket. "Rhea will bring you soup. If you get out of this bed before I say so, I'll have you scrubbing pots with Celeste for a month."
