But strangely, when the ghosts saw me, they all froze. "On you…" a young man in a worn painter's smock said, staring at me in shock. "Is that Kael's aura?" "And little Lily's," said a ghost who looked like a sculptor. "And Pops's, too." The middle-aged man's face changed. "Impossible! Why would they accept a human?" I walked over to a bookshelf in the corner of the room and found a thick diary. I opened it to the first page and saw the words:

Staring back at her from the screen was her good friend, Oscar. “Hey.” She said with a smile. “Hello.” He replied. She noticed he wore black singlets, with his dog tag on, which indicated he was on an army base somewhere. “Where are you?” She asked. “Syria. My tour will be ending in two weeks.” There was poor network connection for a few seconds which muted the screen. Then Oscar’s voice came on again. “…me?” “What did you say?” She asked. “I got your text last night. You missing me?”

"D-Did you figure it out?" The man who was always dominant in the workplace struggled to speak those words. I nodded, only to realize he couldn't see me. Yet I remained silent. I no longer had the courage to speak. After a long pause, I finally asked, "W-Where is Sebastian buried?" Sethian's voice was still rough when he answered, "At Guthram Cemetery." I immediately searched for it on my phone. Guthram Cemetery was a small, not-so-well-known cemetery located on the outskirts of the city. It was serene and beautifully maintained, and the grounds were cleaned daily.

“Does your... friend... have any idea of where we should be looking?” At my question, Geo looks away and to a spot right beside me, causing a chill to race down my spine as I understand that the ghost must be there beside me. “He says it is in the burial grounds behind the temple.” Geo says quietly. “But there are boobytraps set up everywhere to stop people from getting near it.” Boobytraps… Were we characters in an action series? Why were things turning into some sci-fi movie? It was mind-blowing, but I guess just the fact we as wolves existed and hid our identities from the humans made it clear that anything was possible.

I looked at Grayson now and wondered: if he knew I was dead, would he feel relieved that he was finally free of me? Grayson's phone rang. He answered it, not bothering to put it on speaker. I drifted closer, curious. Could it be someone calling to report my death? I studied his face intently, waiting to see his reaction when he learned I was gone. But when I glanced at the screen, I froze. The caller ID displayed my name. The voice that came through the line was unmistakably mine.

He stood straight with a serious face as he began his explanation. "Ghosts are the souls of dead humans who... well, aren't ready to rest in peace. They don't have powers. All they can do is move from one place to another without being seen. Well, not by everyone though." "But... if you're a demon, why then are you in this form?" She couldn't help but ask.

As he flipped through the yellowed old pages, he sat down on the neatly made bed and began to read, curiosity etched on his features. Don Carianno’s writing was in beautiful cursive. It looked like he took his time to scribble, dotting all his i's and crossing his t's. He flipped through the first pages, there was an entry about a new shipment, but it didn’t make sense. He could not decipher the code words. He flipped through a few more pages, and that was when he saw an entry about him. It read: "Ghost, that’s what we’re going to name him. He’s, after all, a Ghost."

After escorting the young recruits, the deity of 9th space went to the gathering place of the deities. “Oh, number nine!” Everyone was so excited to see the 9th deity. “Hey, I have a name. My name is Maley! Don’t call me number nine!”- The 9th deity always tries to look serious. “OMG! Maley! Are you still annoyed with names?”- the Perian deity said. Maley was about to say something when an old voice resounded: “Maley, Perian, you two just come here, don’t argue!”

“But we aren’t townsfolk.” “I know, and that’s what is worrying me. Why now? What is her message?” April and Daniel watched as the ghost slowly walked off towards a grove of trees hiding the lake from the park. With a great sigh, April breathed again, and that’s when Daniel realized that he needed to return to breathing too. “Okay, I think she’s gone for now at least. Let’s continue.” April’s eyes stayed on the spot as the ghost disappeared through the trees and she glimpsed the water through there. Had she died by drowning in the water?
