Ghost From Nightmare Before Christmas Novels & Stories

My bones know it's him, and I walk across the restaurant until I'm standing next to the table. His chocolate eyes mirror mine, an unfamiliar hardness shining in them. He's a ghost. An apparition. A twilight phantom, all mixed in one, brought back to life for a single night, for a single purpose. To haunt me until he puffs back into the elusive dust he really is. "Hello, Hannah." I began to chant as I felt the blood of Ares mixing with my own until I could feel his power coursing through my veins. Selena moved from her position against the wall, her legs stiff from standing so long in one place. She knelt down, reaching for the small plastic ghost that had skidded beneath a chair. Her fingers closed around it, and she examined it briefly. The ghost was white with hollow eyes and a gaping mouth—a child's toy, perhaps, but in this context, it seemed to mock them all. The altar’s broken shape loomed behind them, cracked stone glowing with unnatural pulses. I gasped. Sarah’s hand found mine. Daniel crouched nearby, silver blade drawn. John’s torch flickered far ahead just a flame swallowed by shadows. David lay before the altar, unconscious. His mark glowed a violent red. The ghosts’ hunger pulsed toward him. Their chant deepened. A voice whispered in my mind, cold as frost: “He remembers. I remember. You belong.” I froze. Sarah tugged me back. “We have to move.” But the ghosts didn’t wait,they surged forward.

When nothing came out, I stared at him for a moment before I backed up and almost tripped over the box again. Looking back at him, I didn’t say a word either, just nodded in understanding as I watched him move back into the shadows and disappear. It was strange, because the first time I saw a ghost, I had thought that I would have died of sheer fright, but honestly it wasn’t all that bad. Matter of fact, it comforted me in a strange way, knowing that he was always looking after the house and the kids.

The one who only smiled when she danced with Mr. Tumnus in the moonlight. 'What do you see?' Ethan said, softly. He was standing in the doorway, his face almost as ashen as the ghost-girl's.

I reached out and pressed the radio button on the steering wheel. My voice was cold, cutting through the static. "Mason Vale, do you see a ghost in your mirror?" I said coldly into the radio. Those words pierced straight through Mason's last line of composure. His car hesitated for an obvious instant on the straight. Now. I smashed the throttle down. The car tore through the air and pulled alongside him. Ahead was a chain of fast S-curves. Seeing that I was about to pass, a vicious look flashed through Mason's eyes.

I had no choice, so I dug through every gift Zoe had ever given me, but I found nothing. Just when I was about to give up, I shook a pillow, and a tiny paper figure floated out. Its face was drawn to resemble Lucas, and his birth details were written on the back! The fortune teller exclaimed, “That’s it!
