Ghost Stories For Writing Novels & Stories

I wrote down every expensive ingredient I had ever heard of but could never afford. After finishing the list, I glanced around the room guiltily. The air was dead silent. I placed the list in the center of the table and went to bed with a sense of anticipation. The next day, the first thing I did after waking up was rush to the dining room. The table was empty. There was no breakfast whatsoever, let alone Australian lobster or Wagyu beef. I was a little disappointed. I may have driven the ghost away with my outrageous demands. I sighed and prepared to microwave a box of macaroni and cheese.

I reached out and pressed the radio button on the steering wheel. My voice was cold, cutting through the static. "Mason Vale, do you see a ghost in your mirror?" I said coldly into the radio. Those words pierced straight through Mason's last line of composure. His car hesitated for an obvious instant on the straight. Now. I smashed the throttle down. The car tore through the air and pulled alongside him. Ahead was a chain of fast S-curves. Seeing that I was about to pass, a vicious look flashed through Mason's eyes.

Suddenly, Adrian realized that these individuals indeed harbored ulterior motives. Adrian expanded his awareness, and the sight before him left him speechless. The entire hall was now teeming with an array of ghosts and monsters. Among them were towering old men with only one eye, lanterns swaying on a single leg, malformed boys with just one limb each, women clad in white exuding a bone-chilling aura, and skeletal figures draped in human skin...

As I stepped out and fumbled for my towel, a spooky creak scraped along the doorframe, sending a jolt of fear through my veins. Gosh, why did I do this to myself? I had this terrible habit of reading horror stories and spending sleepless nights huddled under the covers in fear. And then it came again, the same scraping noise but followed by muffled, ominous laughter. It was definitely not my overactive imagination. Did someone else use this room when I wasn't around at night? Goosebumps erupted across my already prickling skin as I slowly opened the door a sliver to look. Olivia was about to ask the deity when a powerful suction blocked her voice and pulled her into an endless black hole.
