I almost jumped out of my chair as I snatched my phone off the desk. Zane: Hey Cinderella. My face screwed into a frown but it barely held its form as I typed. Me: You decided to ghost me after pleading for me to respond to your text. Not cool, fairy godmother. The three dots bounced and his chat bubble appeared. Zane: Sorry. Had been tackling something. He sent a sticker of a person violently pleading. A soft smile brushed my lips. Me: So what are you doing? An image filled our dm with a caption that just woke up.

After escorting the young recruits, the deity of 9th space went to the gathering place of the deities. “Oh, number nine!” Everyone was so excited to see the 9th deity. “Hey, I have a name. My name is Maley! Don’t call me number nine!”- The 9th deity always tries to look serious. “OMG! Maley! Are you still annoyed with names?”- the Perian deity said. Maley was about to say something when an old voice resounded: “Maley, Perian, you two just come here, don’t argue!”

What if he was going? What if people talked again? My stomach flipped. Before I could spiral any further, my phone buzzed in my hand again — but this time with a name that made my heart do something dramatic and stupid. Noah Carter. I froze. Then forced myself to be normal. Cool. Chill. (Which meant staring at the name for a solid ten seconds without moving.) He was just sending a meme. Some dumb video of a cat falling off a counter too dramatically. But then: Noah:

“Ready Meme” “Ready bitch, let’s do this”, she says. Gabe and Spin get close enough for us to grab ahold of each other, and as Meme grabs my shoulders, I poke at her gut, causing her to giggle profusely and lose her balance before she falls backward off of Gabe’s shoulders and into the water.

“Sugar daddy has ghosted me.” Zoe blinked, almost choking on her drink. “Wait, what? Ghosted you? What do you mean ghosted you?” “I mean,” Chloe sighed, pressing her lips together, “I haven’t heard from him in three weeks. Nothing. No calls, no texts. I’ve even tried reaching out, but…” she shook her head, frustration cutting through her voice. “Nothing.” Zoe’s brows knit in confusion. “That doesn’t make sense. Did you two fight? Like… was there an argument, some kind of misunderstanding?”

Our names used to be synonymous, wrapped up in bubble fonts, emoji chains, and late-night memes that only we understood. I clicked the chat. Boom. Photos. Laughs. Voice notes. Stupid “would you rather” questions. Memories that now felt like knives lined in sugar. And then… silence. My silence. The moment everything changed—me ghosting him like he meant nothing.
