With his free hand, he tentatively touched the blade, as if he thought to pull it out.
William pulled a second dagger and looked at the other guard. His eyes were popping with shock.
“Step aside,” William ordered.
The guard dropped his head and moved out of the way; his eyes trained on the floor as they passed.
William entered the extravagantly decorated room like an enraged bull. His gaze flashed around the garishly expensive items; the crystal chandelier that occupied more than half of the recessed ceiling, three—he counted them, three life sized marble sculptures of Lycaon himself, and various paintings and furniture that dated all the way to ancient Rhome.
