I cut through the side, then the shoulder, then the other side, until the expensive knit wool fell to the floor in useless grey heaps. I stepped back to admire my work. Ishida suggested after a period of silence. “But how? That doorknob is so high above us!” Rhina pointed out. Suddenly, the ground started trembling as though there was an earthquake. These were heavy footsteps— the footsteps of a giant. “Who’s there?” a very loud voice called out. “Show yourselves to me!” Ishida turned to the direction that the noise was coming from. He jumped at the sight of a two-eyed giant whose knee was the height of the wooden door. The giant had a shiny bald head and wore a brown tunic. He was staring at the tiny humans in front of him.

The ground below them began to shake with each massive footstep. "No..." Although the king had only heard the sound once, he knew before the word was even spoken. The fairy pointed to the ground just beyond their view. "GIANTS!"

Then, suddenly, as one, they all jumped to their feet, roaring her name. The judge, outraged, leapt to his feet. “BRING IN THE GIANT!” he yelled. Before Caitlin could catch her breath, another side compartment opened, and in rushed a massive giant. The crowd roared. Caitlin’s eyes opened wide in disbelief. She had never seen a monster like this. This creature was at least one hundred feet tall, and, like a Cyclops, had just one eye, in the center of its head. She didn’t imagine that such things even walked the earth, and she could see its muscles rippling out in every direction.

The giant finally yawned and stretched on the floor, promptly falling asleep. “Gotcha.” She whispered as she silently climbed out of the cot. She creeped to the door and stepped out, gently closing it behind her. She spun around, ready to run when she came face to face with a male giant. Her heart lunged into her rib cage and she held his rheumy eyes for a moment. She knew him, he was the very giant that had followed her into the Martoshi’s tent. His lips curved into a satisfied smirk on catching her and he lunged for her. She ducked under his grip and turned heel. “What in the name of-!” She snapped, frustrated. The bastard was a dogged one wasn’t he? And he was at risk of blowing her cover

She had sent a quick message to signal me. “Back lift is clear. Two guards in the kitchen, but busy checking deliveries.” I wore a long beige hoodie, training pants, and sneakers with the quietest soles I owned. I left my hair messy on purpose and applied a touch of concealer and lip balm. Just enough to look like a woman who had just woken up. I was walking back to one of the cottages where Denise was when a group of kids scurried off from behind me, literally running me over, causing me to almost trip. Good thing, I was able to hold on to the rail beside me and broke my fall. I resisted the urge to shout a curse at them. I looked down, and saw that my slippers did not survive the incident.
