The Heiress in Glass

The Heiress in Glass

Vivienne Laurent had learned long ago how to disappear in plain sight. She stood at the far end of the ballroom, beneath a crystal chandelier that glittered like a frozen constellation, holding a champagne flute she had no intention of drinking. The glass tower of Laurent International loomed beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, its mirrored surface reflecting the city lights below. From a distance, she looked like exactly what she was supposed to be: a poised billionaire heiress, draped in silk, her dark hair swept into an elegant twist.

The Silver Crown

The Silver Crown

When I reach the west wing, the panel is already sealed. She’s gone. Good. The relief hits hard enough to make me still for a moment. I press my palm to the stone wall and breathe. The system is built to contain power slowly. To squeeze instead of strike. To make people choose compliance over conflict because conflict is expensive. They didn’t expect four Crown Lords to choose her instead. They didn’t expect Ashcroft blood to close ranks. They didn’t expect the shadows to move first. I step away from the wall and head back toward Vaelor.

A Veil of Ash and Glass

A Veil of Ash and Glass

Of course, they did. The hall outside Salle C opened onto a long arcade of stained-glass windows. The late afternoon had slipped toward evening, the light fading from washed-out gray to bruised color. Sun slanted through the glass in bands of red, gold, and blue that painted the stone walls and the polished floor in shards of borrowed fire. Her muscles hummed from the fight, a pleasant ache in her arm where the foil had bitten into her grip. She could still feel the ghost of Noah’s shoulder against her chest. The sharp, ugly sound he’d made when she’d turned him.

The Crown Of Ash and Silver

The Crown Of Ash and Silver

Morning broke in muted gold, its warmth unable to reach the stone walls of the palace. The great hall was filled with ceremony. Nobles whispered along the marble aisles, their jewels glittering like frost. At the head of the chamber, Crown Prince Adrian stood beside Elysia, their hands clasped as a priest murmured blessings over them. Seraphina stood a few steps behind, veiled and silent. The sunlight from the stained-glass windows painted shifting colors over her pale gown, but she felt none of it. Her pulse thudded in her ears, the mark on her palm tingling like a warning.

Claiming Back His Throne

Claiming Back His Throne

First, I had to take a deep bath using the fragrance they had prepared. While they dried my hair and styled it elegantly, I enjoyed my breakfast. After applying makeup on my face, they helped me put on the blue dress of my choice, complete with gold shoes. I could only stare at my appearance in the mirror. The blue dress was beautiful with gold-colored carvings, and the skirt touched my ankles. I wore a thick dark blue coat mixed with red, and a beautiful tiara was on my head. The guards were ready at the door to escort me to the room where the event would be held. I recognized the large door in front of me, the throne room. The guards opened it, and I stepped inside with them.

Blood Crown

Blood Crown

She sat on her silver and ebony throne, a queen. With an exhilarated expression in her soulless eyes that suggested a fire blazing inside them, she fixed her gaze on her prey. As her aura changed to something ominous and oppressive yet attractive, she lay back on her throne, one leg crossed over the other, and allowed her control and aura to be felt in every corner of the space. It was just as delicious, and once you took a sniff, you quickly became hooked and killed without realizing it.

THORNS

THORNS

This baffled me as I kept walking up the stairs. I was yet to see guards whom I always saw everyday damned day but now, where I needed them the most, they suddenly vanish. I seemed to have been walking for twenty minutes when I soon stopped before a wide mahogany door which also had two guards standing by each side. Not only that, but I needed not to ask if Mr. Red eye was there because I could feel his presence. Call me stupid! “Good morning, is Mr….err, Is your boss in?” I asked one of the guards, who appeared as if he was dead. I was yet to get used to the unique appearances of everyone I saw in this castle. I mean, they all looked like 'the walking dead!'.

The Goddess' Vessel

The Goddess' Vessel

The question on my mind and some of the guards there was the same. What next? The two Alphas, Edgar Frost and George Rutherford grabbed a glass of wine each and poured some whisky into it. Guessing as Ethan and his brother didn't react, it might have been some kind of ritual. They held the cup out. "May the loser bite the dust and die," they spoke almost in unison. Both men went bottom-up and slowly placed their glass cups on the table. Another silence followed, but both men were waiting for the right moment. I felt like the day was about to change drastically for a while.

Curse of the Wolves

Curse of the Wolves

Unease settled in my stomach, growing tenfold as we reached the open doors leading into the throne room. To the left and right, lined up against the walls, were three massive statues. Each one was of a warrior plucked from some random point in time. Those to the left were made of silver, while the others were crafted from polished gold. Their faces held such detail that the sight of them instantly set me on edge. In between them were identical balconies with marble railings. One overlooked the center of the city. Two thrones sat on a raised dais at the far end of the room, and much like the statues, the left one was silver and the other gold. Behind them was a massive stained-glass window de

I love this story so much that I kept reading, not realizing it was already four in the morning, and I had to wake up to take my kids to school at 7. every story by this author is beautifully written and addictive, but I love the humor and the strong female character in this story the most.
