I walked past a gauntlet that crackled with electricity. Then, I stopped. In the back of the room, almost hidden behind a display of ceremonial daggers, was a simple, vertical case. Inside was a sword. It wasn't gold. It wasn't diamond. It was made of a pale, translucent metal that looked like frozen smoke. The hilt was wrapped in gray leather, worn smooth by use. It didn't hum. It didn't glow. It just sat there, looking dangerously quiet. "Ah," Kaelen said, coming up beside me. "The Ghostblade. Or, as the Old Poets called it, Silentium."

He carried two curved blades that hummed with a strange, damp energy. "This is Thorne," Fenris said. "He is an Eclipse-Stalker. His blades are forged from the same silver that Jackson used to poison the exiles. They are designed to drink the light of the sun". The circle was drawn in the center of the square—a ring of salt and cold iron. I stepped into it, the ground beneath my feet feeling like the cobblestones of my rejection once again. His sheath, and the sword, as well, had so much gilding and gems that a magpie would be envious. Even the blade had a gold engraving, while the pommel could have been easily worn by a court lady as a brooch. My sword was plain. It had no adornments at all—just dull grey metal with shark skin on the grip. Still, it could easily pierce chainmail and remain just as sharp, almost without any chips.

When the Ormr Dagger clashed with the short blade, the former cut the latter into two pieces. On the other side, Zeppelin Wayne was holding the Dragon Blade in his hand. An unusually calm and domineering aura emanated from his body. He was facing a Golden Swallow of the Jade family, but the outcome of this battle had been decided from the beginning. Wielding the heavy blade he had been practising hard with all this time, it only took a single slash for Zeppelin to defeat the Golden Swallow. After refining his skill for a long time, Zeppelin’s heavy blade had been brushed up to an astounding level. With a single slash, that Golden Swallow was directly split in half.

The sharp side of their blades was made of silver, and their end had an arrow-like point to penetrate the enemy. Its handle had a safety curve on it that I could, which was why I could spin it freely around my hands like I was doing today. A deadly glint flashed before my eyes as I moved with agility and started slashing throats from left and right.
