A shimmer of moonlight on steel. Elira’s dagger was in her hand instantly. “We’re not alone.” Figures emerged from the shadows—tall, cloaked, their eyes glinting like stars. Their movements were silent, precise, deadly. Elves. One stepped forward, lowering his hood. His hair was gold as wheat, his features sharp and cold. His gaze swept over Kaelen before settling on Elira. “Liraethiel,” he said, voice like steel wrapped in velvet. “You’ve broken exile.”

That was why it was useless to say anything more. Freddy added, "Jefferson, can I ask you for a favor." "What is it about?" Jefferson replied. "I know I didn't kill anyone, but since I'm a suspect, it won't be any good if this spreads. Can you please do me a favor and keep this a secret? I can't let Freya know about this." Freddy was not afraid of anything. The only thing he was afraid of was Freya misunderstanding him further. He had a small frown on his face, and I imagine he wasn't at all pleased to be here. Freya stood a few feet behind him; she was in gold this time—her dress, her veil, the gloves—everything was in the color gold. Raymond growled at me, pushing me aside roughly to face Freddie again. "You must think you are untouchable, don't you?" Ray asked him, punching him one more time and pushing him to the car again. this time I saw him focused on Freddie and I realized that he wanted to confirm if Freddie has a wolf that he is hiding from us. but we didn't hear that sound from him again, we just saw him hit the car and scream in pain, begging Raymond for mercy.

A branch snapped somewhere to his right, and he whipped around, his gun already in his hands. “Take it easy,” a familiar voice said. Freddy stepped out from between the trees, his hands raised in surrender. He wore a black leather jacket and jeans. On his feet, he had on a pair of heavy biker boots, and on his head, he wore a black beanie. Other than his pale complexion, he blended in with the surrounding darkness. “You should be more careful,” Jack said, holstering his weapon. “I could have shot you.” Freddy laughed. “I’ve been trailing you for miles. I could have shot you.”

I don’t care what happens to me and wait as Freddy steps out from the shadows with a smirk on his lips. Holy shit. I hate to admit it, but the hybrid looks gorgeous in the orange light cast from my bedside lamp with his unruly blonde hair and rolled-up sleeves. He has a body toned to perfection with a rugged face fit for an outlaw, yet his eyes remain gentle and patient despite my disrespect. I hold my breath when Freddie slides off his boots and saunters closer with an animalistic grace. His lips twitch when he kneels in front of me and whispers, “Shall I make you forget about your sorrows for a while?”

“Look.” She followed his gaze: the rising sun cast beams through frost-tinted glass, painting the cabin with soft slants of light. Dust floated like silver motes in that glow—a quiet celebration of new beginnings. He touched the moonstone, said, “That’s us. Holding light inside shadow.” Trixie nodded, heart full. “Light inside shadow. Luna and Wolf.” Ryker pressed his forehead to hers again. “Our forever story.” They settled back against the pillows, hands locked over the ring, breathing together. No words necessary. Inside the cabin, the morning stretched around them—warm, enduring, infinite.

“I don’t need to hear about your bondage plans.” Freddy’s grin widened into a genuine smile. “Fine. If you won’t tell me, I won’t pry,” he said at last. “That’s bullshit and we both know it,” Kim replied saucily. Freddy shrugged and went back to where he’d left the rag wadded up on the counter. For a moment, he worked in silence while Kim finished her cookie. “You know—” “Hey,” he began, just as she’d started speaking. “I’m sorry, go ahead.”
