A video played—grainy, taken by a security camera in a distant city. A woman, dressed in black, walked through a crowded marketplace. She didn’t rush. Didn’t hide. Didn’t even pretend to blend in. She moved like someone who feared nothing. Her eyes, hidden behind dark glasses, never lowered. People parted around her instinctively—like animals sensing a predator. Lena whispered, “Is that her?” Cassandra nodded. “Sable recorded two days ago. She’s not running anymore. She’s hunting.” Alexander took a slow breath. His voice was deadly calm.

Susann slowly straightened up her body, tense as Howard’s last words replayed in her head. Before she could hide behind the shadows, something changed behind her, confirming that what she had just heard was dangerous—too dangerous to ignore. Colder than the air in the hallway, a shiver went down her spine. She made a sudden turn, but it was too late. She struck a wall of muscle—a firm, hard frame. Her eyes grew wide with surprise, and she found herself gasping for air.

I walk through the back door that he disappeared into. That leads to the restroom. I'm about to open the restroom door when it opens and I bump into a hard chest. I lose my footing about to fall but a strong arm wraps around my waist. I gasp as I close my eyes tight. I realize I didn't fall. I'm safe. I slowly open my eyes and I'm met with those pairs of green eyes, so close that I can see the freckles of yellow in them.

The room echoed the sound before going quiet. A perfect death indeed. . . . Gerald woke up the next day, feeling disoriented. He'd drunk himself to stupor and when he finally slept, his sleep had been plagued by nightmares. He woke up panting, sweat trickling down his forehead. Sitting up on the bed, he stared at his hands, they were trembling. It was chilly too. Serena barely came out of her room and when she did, she never talked to him. Although he knew she needed time, he was at his wit's end. He needed her to say something to him. Anything.

Maybe if I kill Matias… I let the thought trail off. It would be a fantastic move but a terrible addition to my plan. I can't have two of their assassins die in my hands. It did little to dull the cold dread that had taken root in my heart. As George shifted his focus back to Rima, the deadly charade continued, the game's end now startlingly clear. The cold barrel of the gun, the chilling agreement, the sadistic satisfaction in George's eyes—they all composed a symphony of impending doom. Yet, through the despair, a sliver of hope lingered. She had no nervousness or fear of discovery. There followed a pause of a few seconds that seemed like years, or rather centuries. I was boiling because I didn’t know what was going on outside. We wondered, were they coming toward us? Were the charms that Susan was using all in vain? “The fellow’s right. Better let her go. I don’t want to bother the boss,” came another man’s voice. “Susan is one of us. Stay calm!” he continued. “That’s what I thought,” said Susan. In a minute, I felt the car move. I breathed a sigh of relief even though the danger was not over for good. I was sure that as soon as they discovered Eddy’s dead body and my absence, they would be off in search of us.
