Gone for Good
I met her gaze squarely and said word by word, "Kendra, you betrayed me. You betrayed our marriage. Do you seriously think I'd ever take you back?"
Her face went ghostly pale. "Lucas, I—"
I cut her off. "Save it. I'll never forgive your betrayal. Not now. Not ever."
And with that, I slammed the door in her face, leaving her on the other side.

A few days later, I was back at the research base, flipping through a stack of reports when George burst in, looking shaken.
"Lucas, there's something you need to know."
I frowned and set down my papers, helping him sit down. "Take your time. What happened?"
