I said, but I was looking at her instead of the lights.
"You seem tense," Sophia said, her hand coming to rest on my lower back. "Want to tell me what's wrong?"
"Adrian's ex showed up," I said, and hated how petulant I sounded. "Some guy named Dominic who apparently owns half our company."
"And that bothers you why?" Sophia asked, her hand sliding higher under my shirt.
"It doesn't," I lied. "I just don't like surprises."
"I love surprises," Sophia whispered, pulling me closer until our bodies were pressed together. "Especially the kind that involve you."
