Anyone but me. Shortly, Grace peeked through the door. “Alpha Sean?” She called. I ran to her. “You can come in now.” I tried reading her expression before going in, but she disappeared inside. I walked into the room slowly. There was blood everywhere, and Grace had done whatever she did with no equipment but the things she found in the room. Blood stained almost everything on the table next to the bed, and the pillow was also soaked. More importantly, the black veins were gone. She looked normal now. Grace had a victorious smile on her face, although her body still trembled and her eyes still glistened with tears.

And it was calling back. Braxton’s hands curled into fists. “She’s a week early,” he said again, voice lower, darker. “That shouldn’t be possible.” Unless she’s not like the others, his wolf murmured. He didn’t want to believe that. He’d seen what divine blood did to wolves. He’d seen how it burned through the unready. But the violet in her eyes haunted him — the same violet he’d dreamed of since childhood, the same color the Moon Goddess’s gaze had carried in every story whispered through the pack.

Fuck the fake loyalty. "You can just sit anywhere to while away time." I said and gestured towards a couch. "Or I could help." "You? Help me?" I scoffed. I wasn't trying to look down on her but in the few days I've gotten to know Violet, I've learned a bit about how she was treated and how she wasn't a threat like I thought. She had alpha blood but wasn't raised like royalty. "Hmm, yes. I read a lot of books at my pack." She said.

He laughs again. I find myself relaxing slightly. Maybe this is good. Maybe talking to someone who isn’t one of the three heirs currently destroying my sanity is exactly what I need. Caelan steps closer. Not enough to make me uncomfortable. Not yet. “You know, your eyes really are that color.” I blink. “What?” “Violet.” I shift awkwardly. “Last time I checked.” His gaze lingers. “They’re beautiful.” Heat touches my cheeks. “Thanks.” His eyes drop briefly toward my mouth.

"Wait. Whatever you want, I can give it to you. Money, anything. I'm taking both of them with me." Ethan steadied himself and regained his composure as he locked his sharp eyes onto Amber. Anyone else might have been intimidated, but Amber was not one to scare easily. She did not even lift her gaze before waving her hand. Tara panicked as her tears spilled uncontrollably while Ethan's eyes stayed on her, filled with nothing but heartache and tenderness. At that moment, I probably looked like the greatest villain of all. It was as if I was someone who had torn apart the fated love story of two star-crossed lovers.

It was my job, damn it! "Ethan?" She licked her lips and leaned forward. "Your eyes are turning black again." "Yes, they do that." "Why?" "Because they can." "Seriously?" I smiled. "No, because sometimes I can't control myself. They lose color when I'm feeling something extreme. The green simply fades into black. A lack of color doesn't mean I'm soulless or anything ridiculous. It just means the vampire blood has spread to other parts of my body, readying me for a fight."

He couldn’t just snuff her life out like it meant nothing at all. “This is what happens when you use Vetur against me. I am your mate, you will never attack me that way again,” he stated calmly. His dagger slid across her throat, turning her cries into a wet gurgle. Blood flowed from the wound, drenching the front of her pale pink dress in crimson. Her mouth opened and closed struggling to make words and speak the agony she was experiencing. Her eyelids drooped and resignation settled in her features. Hands that’d been trying to stem the flow of blood slowly drifted down to her side. I stared, unable to move, unable to speak as I watched the light bleed from her eyes and her body go limp.

My world narrowed to the pull in my chest, the unmistakable call of her presence drawing me forward like a beacon in the dark. I burst through the next doorway, and there she was. Violet lay crumpled against the far wall, wrists bound loosely in front of her, dark hair tangled and matted with blood that looked black in the dim light. Her dress was torn at the hem, stained red where at the base. One side of her face was bruised, the skin already purpling, her lips pale and parted slightly as she struggled to breathe. Her eyes were closed, lashes dark against too-pale cheeks.
