Violet was already crawling through shattered leaves and ash, her eyes frantically scanning the darkness. “Rhea? RH—” Kael found her. She was standing. Unmoving. Right where the shockwave had thrown her. Her head hung slightly forward, platinum curls drifting slowly in the unnatural breeze. The faint crimson marks along her skin pulsed once… twice… three times… Then faded into a pale glow beneath her skin. “Rhea?” Violet repeated, softer now, afraid. I almost mirrored him until Ivy lifted her head. I exhaled sharply, grounding myself before I turned toward Ivy. She still hadn’t moved. She stood in the echo of the altar, arms crossed over her chest, chin tilted downward. But her body vibrated with tension. “Ivy,” I said softly. That broke her. Her head snapped up, eyes locking with mine, and for a heartbeat, just one flicker in the wavering light, I saw it. Violet. Not her usual warm brown or the wolf’s amber. But violet fire, glowing from deep within her irises before fading back into mortal color.

She grabbed a clump of grass and pulled. Something sharp cut through her flesh. Violet brought her hand up and saw a long gash on her palm. It was bleeding rapidly, and she could not stop it. A row of sharp glass shards were hidden in the grass. Clearly, the servant had brought her here so that she would end up getting cut. Violet did not try to stop the bleeding and just sat on the grass with a blank stare. The shocking red looked even stranger when the sun shone on it. Violet stared quietly as it fell onto the grass and dyed it red.

Violet I couldn't see the impact, or the moment it penetrated through her skin. The vision blurred there, becoming hazy as if whatever magic was showing me this couldn't or wouldn't display that specific moment. But I didn't need to see it to know what happened. Because a moment later, blood appeared, spreading across the stone floor in a dark pool that looked black in the candlelight. It soaked into the rug, quickly spreading through the fibers. It spattered across the hem of her gown, across the hands of those who held her, across the boots of the man with the blade.

It absorbed it quickly and the light seemed to be getting brighter and brighter every second. "Is that Violet's blood?!" Xavier growled angrily. His body was rigid with fists clenched at his sides, eyes black and haunting. Ezekiel and Zain sniffed the air, and their eyes widened a fraction after catching her faint scent. "Yes it is. It'll strengthen the soul light as you can see. I didn't harm your precious mate any more than you could have harmed her," she replied much to Xavier's anger. He growled angrily but said nothing.

They finally entered an alcove area with a small counter, on top of which sat several vials. Violet suddenly reached out, took a small knife from her waistband, and sliced her wrist. She then reached over, grabbed a vial, and let her blood drip into it. When it was filled, she sealed it with a stopper. She bandaged her wrist with a rag, then held up the vial, examining it in the fading afternoon light. "You are putting your faith for his entire life in this one vial," Violet said. "And if it doesn't work?”

It was Violet. Dressed in a flowing gown that mirrored the moonlit sky, her ebony hair cascaded like a waterfall, framing her delicate features and illuminating eyes the color of twilight.
