The gate lowers completely, warm water slowly trickles out, and the inside of Estate Eclipse is steaming. I grab onto Dante and he helps me past the blocks of ice until we cross the other side of the gate.

I took a shower and went downstairs, probably grabbing something from the fridge. ‘’Looking for something’’, someone said behind me, making me stumble forward when a firm hand wrapped around my waist and pulled me into his hard chest. I stabilised myself and remove his hand from my waist and continued my way to the fridge until he said, ‘’The maid covered some food for you, it is on the kitchen counter’’, I ignored him. His food and him can go to hell.

I puzzled over the numbers and their meaning, trying a random code first and getting the screen to flash red and show two attempts left. Fuck… I wonder what happens if I fail. I thought as I stared at the numbers again. Now, what do I know of my captor… Nah, he can’t be that childish. I typed in eight, zero, zero, eight, one, three, and five and watched the screen turn green and display controls for the house. My Goddess; I’m fated to a moron. I could see controls for various doors around the space, as well as a com system for the front door and a camera displaying the street.

The coach’s instructions echoed in my mind: puzzle before progress. I knelt beside it. A small grid of buttons lit up, and above them, numbers shifted constantly. I frowned. “Okay… we need a sequence, but it keeps changing.” Fred studied it. “We need to communicate and watch carefully. Each press affects the next number.” We started experimenting, calling out numbers, adjusting based on trial and error. The tension built with every wrong press, the box let out a loud beep, warning us of failure. My hands shook as I pressed a button, and it clicked correctly. Slowly, painstakingly, we solved the sequence.

The Admin’s avatar flickered one last time, split halfway between its old, cold mask and something glitchier, less sure. “ENTER FINAL WORLD,” it said. “OR BE ERASED HERE.” White light flared. Code screamed in a thousand distorted tones as the floor vanished like paper burned from underneath. Gravity twisted sideways, then down, then nowhere. We went with it, torn off whatever counted as “ground” now, yanked into a new gravity we hadn’t agreed to. If we failed this last test, the echoes of everyone we’d tried to save would vanish with us—our edits scrubbed, their chances erased.

Adrian POV The ball spirals through the air, perfect trajectory, and I'm exactly where I need to be. My hands close around nothing. The ball bounces off my chest and hits the turf. "Cross!" Coach Rowan's voice booms across the field. "That's three in a row. What the hell is wrong with you?" I jog back to the line without answering. My hands are fine. My positioning is fine. Everything is technically correct. Except I can't focus for more than five seconds without seeing Jules' face.
