LYRA* Blaze took me back to the house the next day after church. Blaze and I talked about the bricking and what color to paint the trim. We decided on Rocky Mountain Tumbled Oyster Grey Stone instead of traditional bricking, Charcoal grey for our roofing, and Suede Grey for the siding and frame of the home. Blaze took me to see the finishing touches to the outside of the house yesterday after I had gotten home from school, and it was gorgeous. How Blaze and his cousins finished the home's exterior in under a week was beyond me. Work on the interior has halted until after Blaze and I had gotten married.

Even if my eyes were open, I could still see her vividly. I arranged my pallet until everything was set, the only thing left to do is to get the brush and strike it in different ways to present her perfectly. White, Yellow Ochre, and Cadmium Red were inviting me, just by looking at them I knew I'd get her complexion seamlessly. Her skin is fair and glossy, like white sand radiating under the heat of the afternoon sun, or almonds blanched and then peeled. I'll add Cerulean for her blush.

“God, Layken! You scared me!” Turning back around, I took in the scene before me once more. “Wow, Layken, this is wonderful! I’ve never seen anything like this before,” I said, marveling at the sight. Curiously, I asked, “Are gray and black your favorite colors?” as I turned around to observe the long black double sink. It seemed fitting, since Layken’s vehicles were all black with a gray interior. “It would seem fitting that the woman God made for me would have the most stunning grey eyes. But yes, I love grey and black. How about you? What are your favorite colors?”

Alec grabbed the books and brought them to the coffee table so we could keep eating. “What do you want for flooring?” “Well, I want a light olive or sage green on my walls. Not too dark flooring but maybe more gray than brown?” “Something like this?” Alec pulled out something that was kind of what I was thinking. “That is too shiny. I don’t want anything to show dust easily or show scratches.” “This?” Alec pulled out something very gray with a hint of brown. It had like build in scrapes that would hide any scratches. “I love that, how much is that per square feet?”

Lots of antiques on the big display shelf by the right corner of the living room. A large aquarium was built like a sectioning wall between the massive living area and the long hallway leading to the stairs, dining area and kitchen. A large LED TV display hanged on the marbled gravel grey walls. The paintings on the wall were all grey and looked rustic with the edges of the walls from the types of bricks used. I was beginning to think whether Mason was just obsessed with the colour grey and black because anywhere he took me, it always either had grey or black as the main colour.

(Nate’s POV) Alexis was talking about nursery colors. Sage green or soft yellow, she said. Mara thought yellow. Her doula thought green. The doula’s husband—who was now also living in my house, apparently—thought gray, but gray was depressing, didn’t I think gray was depressing? She cut a piece of steak and chewed it while she waited for me to agree that gray was depressing. I agreed. I didn’t care about the color. I had not cared about any color in several weeks.

Cyrus was always like that growing up, he treated Kyle and I like crap and always got our dad to follow every word he said. Gray looking down at me with a smile snaps me out my thoughts, I just send a tiny one back as we pull up to a row of quite big houses, they had steps leading up to each door with black railings. The bricks were a deep red colour with huge windows at the front, they looked rather Victorian era type houses, but also with a modern sense to them.

It was a small room, totally bare of any divination materials. The dreary light of the tired sun outside which filtered through the thatched roof, was totally absorbed by the muddy walls. Persistently, the vanguard horde of ants had invaded the small room, packing food in small quantities as they marched in a single file. Strangely, it was not the sound of the insects that bothered him the most but the nature of the silence that had engulfed his life.

Aaron handed him a glass of golden-brown liquid, which was half way to the tippy top of the crystal glass. "Matinee..." He added as he noticed Adrian give the glass a disdain look, before looking up at him. "You also hate matinees?" "Also?" Adrian noticed his choice of words. "You appear unfazed by the relics and sentiments of this world –" Adrian raised a brow at him when he paused, which forced him to decide upon an explanation. "Dark... Cold... Rude... Antisocial! You appear to be someone who hates a awful lot of things."

It was a symbol of everything she wanted to forget. The sleek glass façade of Gray's Company Building shimmered in the sunlight, its 27 stories towering over the bustling city below. Inside, the front hall exuded understated luxury, with elegant decor chosen to reflect the company's powerful reputation. It was said that Lucien Gray himself had designed the layout, each detail a testament to his impeccable taste.
