Brooklyn said, sitting at the table where her laptop and notebook sat. Kendall pulled out a chair and sat down. “What’s up?” Brooklyn asked, shutting her laptop. “I did a reading today,” Kendall said, taking out her notebook, “and it’s got me a little worried.” Frowning, Brooklyn said, “What did the cards say?” Opening her notebook, Kendall looked at her notes. “It’s saying something about heartbreak, danger, and loss,” she said. Shea paused in her chopping to say, “That doesn’t sound good.”

Groaning in frustration, I moved to the larger, more inconvenient-to-look-for part of the study—the library. It took me another three hours to go through every book, searching for hidden notes and letters as if I were on some damn treasure hunt. Many times, I laughed at myself, muttering that what I was doing was ridiculous, but I had to be thorough. Besides, I knew that my father had never been fond of computers, which led me to assume that maybe he kept something important printed or handwritten and placed somewhere among those books.

“ It’s nothing. Just a library book I checked out. By accident. Just a silly mistake.“ Now that was the understatement of the century. “A silly mistake, my behind,” Edith cackled. “The Kama Sutra. The Joy of Sex. Dating for Dummies. The Multi-Orgasmic Couple. The Girlfriend's Guide to Great Sex.” Edith pointed to each of the books as she listed off the titles. Picking up the books, Mattie said, “This is my business. My personal, private business.” “Poppycock.” Edith stood, hands on her generous hips, blocking the door. “If you wanted this to be private, you wouldn’t have brought those books here.“

Walking past the small coffee table in my living room, I see the book I am busy reading. ‘Finding the Alpha’ The dame books. I am now dreaming of strange things!!! Cowboys, red eyes, what else will my brain think of? I loved my paranormal books, I could live in places that were myths with no reality, living out stories and dreaming of what it would be like to be one of them. I should maybe think of a good one-night stand and get rid of this frustration. NO, NO, I will not feel love again. It is just a myth like in my books and what will I gain? A good night of sex and then back to reality where love means nothing?

Only a little money from her books remained. “So, I heard you were looking for me?” An elegant woman walked in with a little boy by her side. Adeline stood up as she accessed the lady. She looks more beautiful in person, slightly plump with curves, shiny black hair, earthy brown eyes and light chocolate skin. Seems like she got her eye and skin color from her. “Hello, mother.” Grace looked at the young lady in front of her in shock. A sense of recognition flash in her earthy orbs as she looked at the familiar face.
