Hope's POV. The sky outside is the color of ash. Muted gray clouds roll low across the treetops, casting the forest in a dull, bruised light. Rain hasn't come yet, but I can smell it in the wind — sharp, earthy, like a promise half-kept. The storm hovers on the edge of the world, holding its breath. So am I.

The skies over Mooncrest were a stormy canvas of dark gray, roiling with tension and streaked with crimson lightning. It was as if the heavens themselves could sense the reckoning about to unfold. The air carried the weight of anticipation—thick, pressing, and sharp enough to slice through bone. On the hill overlooking the ancestral grounds, Kael stood alone, staring toward the horizon where the Crimson Fang banners had begun to appear like bloodstains on the landscape.

I’m not complaining. ‘Not a holiday. Not even a public event. Someone planned that for a private reason.’ ‘Post it to your feed, quick!’ ‘What for? Everyone in the city’s already seen it.’ The sky dimmed, one flicker at a time. Blue faded to grey. The clouds swallowed the colour. The air felt heavier again, like it had been stretched and snapped back too fast. I turned to Ashton. I couldn’t see properly. My vision hadn’t adjusted. Everything looked smeared and too bright, like a lens had fogged.

Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Veil Cracks The morning sky over Greyhowl didn’t greet them with gold or pale blues—it bled crimson. The clouds churned in slow spirals, veins of red streaking across the horizon like open wounds in the sky. The sun, when it broke through, burned a sickly orange-red, casting everything in a perpetual dusk. The estate’s security lights flickered on automatically, mistaking the darkened sky for nightfall. Link stood on the estate balcony, staring out over the grounds, jaw tight, arms crossed. He could smell it—the air was wrong. Thick. Metallic. Like the scent of blood before a kill.

Not long after the boat vanished over the horizon, dark clouds rolled in, and massive waves surged like a raging beast, swallowing the shore. I was swept into the dark current, seawater flooding my lungs. As my consciousness faded, I felt a strange sense of relief. Meanwhile, at the grand cathedral in Laningarde, wedding bells rang out. Barrett, dressed in a white suit, was about to slip the diamond ring onto Astrid's finger when a disheveled guard burst in, his panicked scream cutting through the music. "Boss, bad news! A tsunami just hit the island. Miss Brooks didn't make it!"

But I brush it off since I'm still busy with the competition of the team's operation system. After everything's done, every other problem that follows just fell into place a long time. But what worries me is that there was a report that Grey Howl's preparation is almost complete or maybe it already is. This puts me and the others on a high alert. "Dammit, one problem done, another shows up. I fuckin hate my life." I mumbled as I got out of my office to the meeting hall. Today, we are going to discuss the countermeasure that we had to take to fight against Grey Howl. We can't afford to lose since this is an all-out war.

Shelly asked. "I don't know. Maybe because it's free— Out of anyone's reach, beyond any boundaries." I let out a sigh, my eyes never tore away from the view of the sky that engulfed a strange attire today— In the depth of its blue there were dark clouds that fought to break from beneath and show up on the surface. Nonetheless, the beauty of it hadn't been hampered, nor did the dark clouds reach the nearest possibility of overshadowing its magnificence. "And you aren't?"

As I stood by the window, the paper calendar on my wall rustled in the wind and I looked over at the marked-off days. Only six more days to go until I could finally be free. I tightened my jacket around me and gazed outside, where the sky was a gloomy shade of gray, and the clouds looked ominous, as if a tornado might be on its way. Late spring weather was notoriously unpredictable.

Chapter 64 Third POV: Rain came without warning that afternoon. The skies, once clear and blue, turned a soft, moody grey. The clouds hung low over the rooftops, and a light drizzle began to tap on cobblestones and storefront awnings. It wasn’t long before the drizzle turned into steady rain, soaking the city with its gentle persistence.

The busy-as-a-bee physician was seated with vials in his hands looking like he had spent more than enough time already. "The meeting can start now!" Alpha Kai announced as he set his eyes on me. "Yes, Alpha Kai. I had a dream, the sky was filled with clouds. Clouds, thick, bloody clouds. You need to see them, comrades." Vera's body language seemed a little bit off. Her words were serious but her expression, funny. "Bloody clouds? Is that literal or figurative?" Alpha Kai was also confused by her exaggeration. "Literal, my lord. They are blood red," she reaffirmed.
