The carriage bounced and jostled down the dirt road towards us. It was a slick black carriage led by a team of Clydesdale horses. They where elegant creatures with long legs, thick glossy bodies, and well maintained and groom manes. There ears flicked and tails swished about as they pulled the carriage behind them. They where so beautiful that I could not pull my eyes away from them. It was such a shame that they belonged to the Phoenix family. I begrudgingly pulled my horse towards the carriage and held up my hand for the man driver to stop. At first, he was hesitant, but seeing the other guards around me, he slowed his pace and stopped beside me.

Burned meat and blood are so old that they don’t belong to anything natural. There is only one thing it can be. A name whispered in the Pit’s dark corners when the guards thought we were too broken to listen. Bloodborne Hounds. Bred in the dark and stitched together from dead wolves and dead men. Made for one purpose: to tear the right out of anything too stupid to run.

The idea of leaving Ghost alone with Gray made my skin crawl, especially knowing how much Hugo adored him. "Gray probably won't be thrilled about that," I said, politely declining his offer. "He's not a fan of dogs." "Oh, he wouldn't care if he's in line," Hugo assured me. "Ghost was trained to handle any potential threats and acts of aggression. The fifth is a mix of colors—brown and white and a streak of something darker along its spine. The sixth is the smallest of the healthy ones, a pale cream color that catches the morning light. My mom had been captured by rogues for the sole purpose of using and abusing the red wolf’s power, and Grey was determined that it would never happen again. ‘I can’t make any promises.’ Grey replied. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. My wolf was unique. Although mostly black, his paws and a stripe on his chest were a dark red color. The color was so dark it almost looked black, but when the sun shined off of it, you could see the red hue to it. Grey liked to joke that it made him more powerful. I was certain it made him more of a jackass.

By now, Kimberly, Sheryl, and Ertan were already at the racetrack. Kimberly has put on the safety gear to ride the horse. She was pulling a big brown horse with black, bushy horsehair. The horse's name was Shetland, and it came from Arabia. Arabian horses are one of the oldest horse breeds. As the name implies, this horse comes from the Arabian Peninsula. Its height is 145–155 cm, with a weight of 360–450 kg. The color varies from black to white to brown to gray.
