He looks livid and ready to kill someone mercilessly. “Who the fuck are they?” “Humans, Alpha,” Beta Dillon answered. Drake balled his fists; his face became expressionless. “Are you sure about that? Don’t you know the rouge actions lately? They’re quiet and not attacking anymore after the last encounter with them.”

Like a mind on its own it went after the monster leaving the men standing with no harm coming to them. Grisha squinted her eyes, trying to discern any identifying features of the person under attack, but the flurry of movement made it difficult. Nevertheless, his combat tactics were sharp and calculated, demonstrating a cleverness that Grisha recognized from her years of combat training. The individual was quick to dodge and avoid being cornered, clearly experienced in evading the grasp of his many attackers.

The pain in my thigh surged, reminding me of what happened, why I'd been struggling—I couldn’t use my leg to evade his attack.

One pulled out a huge knife and prepared to stab Griz between the shoulders. Athena, Alessia’s wolf, leaped through the air and crashed into the side of the vampire just as he stabbed downward. The blade missed Griz’s heart but stabbed him through the arm. Griz roared and then shifted, his bear four times his size and angry.

The flesh underneath froze instantly. Titan staggered back. It clawed at its chest but its movements were stiff and jerky. The ice was spreading. I did not stop. I grabbed a loose metal bar from the floor. I swung it like a baseball bat. I hit the frozen armor on its leg. Crack. The leg shattered. It crumbled into dust. Titan fell. It toppled sideways. It hit the railing of the catwalk. The railing gave way. Titan fell over the edge. It fell silently. It was a frozen statue tumbling into hell.
