When he stepped up to where we were he asked, “Well how bad is she?” Dr. Lynn spoke up and said, “She’s not at risk for dying and if you’re still willing to donate your blood, she will heal much quicker.” Gideon nodded and said, “To do this sterilely you will need a larger bore needle like a sixteen gauge. The person drawing the blood will need to know their anatomy well because you can’t palpate for a vein, like you would for a human.” Gideon told Dr. Lynn, as he rolled up his sleeves and they began to walk towards the exam room doors.

"I can show you where to cut so that he bleeds out painfully." He walked over to me, my mother screaming her pleas and sobs, and he knelt down beside me. He took my hand, and I noticed he was wearing gloves; he guided my hand to his thigh. "The femoral artery runs through here. It's one of the big ones. He'll lose a lot of blood quickly, but it won't take long for him to die, and he'll feel it all." His eyes met mine, and the reflection of the slight light coming through the window illuminated his eyes.
