They think that if the world will collapse soon and within two months, seventy percent of the human population will become terrible creatures due to the 'S' virus,” said Professor Alex in a serious tone. “The external sensors are being fried by the static discharge. I’ll have to manually plug the logic core into the pillar’s nervous system.” ​I looked at the monitor. The Sky City, a magnificent sprawling complex of white marble and gold plating, was tilting at a dangerous fifteen-degree angle. Great plumes of white steam were erupting from its base as the gravity anchors snapped one by one, trailing through the air like the broken tentacles of a giant jellyfish. ​“It’s too dangerous to dock, Thorne,” I warned. “The turbulence around the central pillar will tear the Pathfinder apart. You’ll have to jump.”

“It’s starting.” The universe hadn’t changed anything; it was only shifting the pieces just like chess. Her gaze drifted across the office until it landed on Iris, who stood a few feet away, laughing softly with a colleague, her perfect hair glinting under the lights. Hailey’s lips curved into a faint, calculating smile. “If fate wants someone to take the fall…” she whispered only to her own hearing. “Then I’ll make sure it’s her.” Her eyes lingered on Iris a moment longer before she turned away, her expression turning cold, composed, and just a little more dangerous than before.

NATHANIEL'S POV. ADELE'S SkyFall played slowly from the radio, and it felt swift and soft, matching the tempo of the moment we have at hand. The sky was actually falling as it began to rain lazily drizzling at first, before becoming heavy showers. We watched as the men alighted their cars o after each other, with Raphael coming out last with a cigar stuck between his lips. I looked around at everyone counting them again as quickly as possible, at everyone present at that moment.
