She tumbled through the abyss, a kaleidoscope of nightmarish sights and sounds swirling around her. In an instant, she found herself in the heart of Hell. The landscape was a desolate, barren wasteland, devoid of life and hope. The skies were ablaze with crimson and sulfur, casting an eerie, oppressive glow over the nightmarish terrain. Jagged rocks and twisted, gnarled trees stretched into the distance, shrouded in an eternal gloom.

I used to hide behind headphones, blasting music loud enough to drown out the sky, but tonight… I wasn’t prepared. The freaking weather updates said no fucking rain. The heavens gave no sign at all either. “Leylla?” Aldrich’s voice echoed from close by. He was kneeling on his knees before me. A crack tore through the sky again. I screamed, placing my hand over my chest as if to hold my heart in place. It was beating like it wanted to escape my body. Aldrich stretched his hands towards me. “What is happening?” he said quickly, kneeling in front of me. His hands reached for mine, but I had already curled up tighter, trembling.

When he turned, his smile was small but real, and my heart clenched. “Morning, angel,” he said softly. I took the cup, fingers brushing his, and tried to match his smile. “Morning.” We sat at the table together, sipping coffee as the sun spilled through the glass windows. I wanted to freeze that moment, capture it, live in it forever. But even then, I saw it. The way his eyes flicked to the skyline, sharp and calculating, as though the city itself might shatter the glass and drag him back. And maybe it already had.

Azaliah watched in horror as heaven fell into an uproar. She had seen this before, angels screaming and yelling, Michael barking commands at the other angels, structures falling and collapsing and speckles of golden dust littering the air. She had seen it all before but this time, it wasn't just in the walls of a temple, it was real. She was living it.

She squinted her eyes. *gasp*... A person? Damn is that another? She asked as her eyes widened. She pointed at them in the sky. They were moving incredibly fast. She saw flashes of lights from the figures in the sky. A bright light was going from one towards the other while the other person dodged and raised a counter attack, sending a red beam of light. It was like watching a movie for Mia. Everything seemed so when she suddenly realized that they were fighting. Right above her head a fight was going on. She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

They may not like me, but at least when they're near, other students can't kill me. Ahead of me, Rowan, Seyla, and Lyra, all link arms as they giggle in excitement. I slow my pace slightly to keep a distance. I don't want my sour mood to bring down theirs. I glance up at the night sky, and I gasp. I stop walking altogether as I take in the millions of stars lighting the sky. I almost forgot how beautiful the night sky is.

The iron lever that had killed someone before started to move winding backward with a lot of tension. The countdown was inside the machine now and the press was getting ready to eject the sector from the mainframe. "Elara!" Julian shouted through the storm. "The anchor is slipping! The building is losing its place! We're falling out of the world!" The skyscrapers outside were moving, sliding across the horizon like a train car. The horizon was tilting. The sky was turning upside down.

Frank snorted. "Alright, I'm hanging up. I'm getting started over here soon." "Yeah. Good luck," Jouri replied. Hanging up, Frank looked up at the waterfall overhead, and then at Skyler, who was standing beside him. "So? Is it time yet?" "Almost… Now!" Skyler's eyes were glowing even as she stared at her watch. "Alright." Frank looked up just as the skies abruptly darkened. "Ah, there it is—the eclipse."

--- ### The Ascent We ran toward the hook. The floor was disappearing. The beautiful white marble was falling away into a black abyss. I could see the thousands of pods in the warehouse below us—they were being crushed by the falling sky. Millions of people were being "Deleted" in their sleep. I didn't think. I jumped. My fingers caught the cold, rusted edge of the hook. It felt like ice. "Leo! Elara! Jump!" Leo grabbed Elara by the waist and threw her toward me. I caught her hand, my arm feeling like it was being pulled out of its socket. Then, Leo leaped. He caught the cable just as the Admin Wing collapsed into the void.

He responded in a cold and troubled way, as if he did not present himself to another being... for millennia. "Kalias" he said with a husky and heavy voice "I am Kalias, the fallen alpha of montdust". Kalias. The name seemed to resonate in the mind of the girl, Kalias who came from Kalos and meant... beauty.
