“We’re the only house left out.”
“Let me lend a hand,” Lia offered, pushing aside the storm in her head.
“Thanks, sweetheart. Could you get the LED lights from the garage?” Stacey asked, already halfway up a stepladder to hang a garland.
“Sure thing,” Lia said, walking toward the garage.

The air in the garage was cool, smelling faintly of dust and pine from the stored decorations. Boxes were stacked unevenly against the wall, each labeled from past holidays, Christmas Eve 2022, Ornaments, Winter Lights.
