Not with everything already spiraling out of control. Chelsea didn’t notice anything, though. Or maybe she did and simply ignored it, because she calmly lifted the cloth covering the object in her hands. And when she unveiled it— The entire hall gasped. My eyes dropped to it, confusion instantly replacing everything else for a second. It was… a vase. But not just any normal looking vase. It was intricately carved, the surface filled with delicate patterns that looked almost alive, like they shifted slightly if you stared too long. The material shimmered faintly under the light, like it held something inside it, something… powerful.

Zarha's POV “This one is from me,” Xander says, holding out another small square box. It’s about half the size of the one Tobias gave me. This one isn’t wrapped in paper, but the black velvet box has a neat red satin ribbon around it. I take it from Xander and undo the bow, then lift the lid. Inside is a beautiful bracelet. It’s like a woven vine circling around, with an intricately carved clasp and leaves etched into it. There are regular loops designed to look like shoots from the vine. It’s delicate and so beautiful. I pick it up. It moves like a chain, but looks more solid.

I used to carry it with me wherever I went. One day, while playing volleyball, Damien had hurt his wrist. I couldn't stand seeing him in pain, so I wrapped my beloved handkerchief around his wrist to support it. I hadn't thought twice about it back then. I just wanted to help him feel better. But he never returned the handkerchief to me. I worried that he might think I couldn't even keep hold of a simple handkerchief. I didn't know that he kept it to himself with so much care!

He immediately took out his phone from his pocket and texted Alaia. "God, I'm so tired of reading." Jughead loudly grumbled, making cross-eyed expressions. He stood up from the sofa and stretched his arms, turning his neck left and right, working out the kinks. It was then that he accidentally slipped and his hand grabbed onto the nearest item to catch his fall, a 19th century antique vase from Japan. Annabelle gasped in alarm. The vase is worth millions and was a gift that her grandmother had received from the emperor when she was younger.

I didn’t like this, not when I still had to drive home. “Right…yes…that must be it.” He takes a step closer, pulling something out of his inner jacket pocket before handing it out to me. A handkerchief. “Take it, I don’t need it.” He offers. “Thanks, I can get this back to you.” I place the smooth cloth in my hands, the initials TS embroidered in gold stitching. “Please don’t.” He chuckles out as I place it to my lips. It felt good, the softness of the cloth was slightly cool as I tab it against my forehead and on the back of my neck.

She cleared her throat. “Oh, right. You asked me a question.” I shook my head, “Azrael and the others brought me along. Turns out I have a task of my own to complete. I could’ve done without it though. Ah ha!” A dark sliver of cloth peeked out from the soil. I yanked it out, shaking the dirt from it’s fibers before holding it up to the light. From the size and shape, I knew it was a handkerchief. The material was similar to that of the ring in my pocket. An absurdly deep shade of black that shimmered ever so slightly.

She was about to use the item she just crafted as part of honoring Margaret's death, but she changed her mind right then. Back in the basement earlier, Tirana had crafted a small vase imbued by synthesized elemental energy. The vase was filled with various seeds and ground flowers as catalyst for the energy, and it was meant to enhance longevity of white stargazer lily bouquet she brought. She wanted the scene of Margaret's death to be beautiful just as she was in life.

“Why not? He deserves it.” “Because,” she said, looking up at him with concern in her pretty, hazel eyes, “you’ll hurt your hands.” She grabbed a tall, crystal vase off a nearby end table and shoved it into his chest. “Use this instead.” Brian grinned and lifted the vase in one hand, testing its weight. “You sure? This is a really nice vase. It’s also heavy. Potentially lethal.” He glanced at Jeremy, satisfied to see fear in his eyes. Brian shifted his gaze to the flowers littering the floor by the door. “And you have some nice flowers over there that someone—not me, once again—delivered personally…”

More of his sarcasm? But the vase was different. Made of rustic, dark ceramic. And inside, there was not an explosion of colorful petals, but a single flower. Strange and magnificent. Its petals were such a deep red they bordered on black, with long sepals that extended like claws or… bat wings. It looked like something out of a gothic dream. It was an orchid. A Dracula Vampira. My heart leaped. Only one person knew of my strange fascination with rare and somber orchids. Only one person would use such symbolic language.

Keven immediately handed over a clean white handkerchief. Cedrick took the handkerchief and wiped each finger slowly and carefully. It was like he was wiping something dirty off his fingertips. After that, he casually threw the handkerchief as if it was trash. It fell onto Evelyn's face. Evelyn's face was completely covered by the handkerchief, and it was impossible to see her expression, but judging from her trembling shoulders, she was going crazy.
