Zarha's POV “This one is from me,” Xander says, holding out another small square box. It’s about half the size of the one Tobias gave me. This one isn’t wrapped in paper, but the black velvet box has a neat red satin ribbon around it. I take it from Xander and undo the bow, then lift the lid. Inside is a beautiful bracelet. It’s like a woven vine circling around, with an intricately carved clasp and leaves etched into it. There are regular loops designed to look like shoots from the vine. It’s delicate and so beautiful. I pick it up. It moves like a chain, but looks more solid.

I used to carry it with me wherever I went. One day, while playing volleyball, Damien had hurt his wrist. I couldn't stand seeing him in pain, so I wrapped my beloved handkerchief around his wrist to support it. I hadn't thought twice about it back then. I just wanted to help him feel better. But he never returned the handkerchief to me. I worried that he might think I couldn't even keep hold of a simple handkerchief. I didn't know that he kept it to himself with so much care!

Below stretched a bottomless dark pit, filled only with wind that sounded like wailing ghosts. "No... No..." He reached out, trying to grab the figure that had fallen, but there was nothing—only cold snow. Suddenly, the wind carried a filthy scrap of cloth. It caught on a dead branch at the cliff's edge. Axel's pupils constricted. He crawled over while trembling. Ignoring the thorns that tore his hands, he grabbed it. A handkerchief. Though caked with mud and frozen blood, he recognized it instantly. It was the birthday gift Seraphina had given him five years ago. In the corner, she had embroidered a crooked little wolf. She had just started learning the craft then.

Terry offered. "Oh, that's not necessary. Besides, that was a one of kind vintage vase from the Victorian era, so it was irreplaceable," Ivan said with a straight face. Judging from how tightly he was holding that fork, it looked like he was about to pop a vein. I snickered. Poor Ivan. This could possibly be his future with the twins. I felt movements inside me, then a hard kick. "Ow!" I yelped. "What is it, sweetheart?" Ivan said in a worried tone.

He immediately took out his phone from his pocket and texted Alaia. "God, I'm so tired of reading." Jughead loudly grumbled, making cross-eyed expressions. He stood up from the sofa and stretched his arms, turning his neck left and right, working out the kinks. It was then that he accidentally slipped and his hand grabbed onto the nearest item to catch his fall, a 19th century antique vase from Japan. Annabelle gasped in alarm. The vase is worth millions and was a gift that her grandmother had received from the emperor when she was younger.

I didn’t like this, not when I still had to drive home. “Right…yes…that must be it.” He takes a step closer, pulling something out of his inner jacket pocket before handing it out to me. A handkerchief. “Take it, I don’t need it.” He offers. “Thanks, I can get this back to you.” I place the smooth cloth in my hands, the initials TS embroidered in gold stitching. “Please don’t.” He chuckles out as I place it to my lips. It felt good, the softness of the cloth was slightly cool as I tab it against my forehead and on the back of my neck.

She cleared her throat. “Oh, right. You asked me a question.” I shook my head, “Azrael and the others brought me along. Turns out I have a task of my own to complete. I could’ve done without it though. Ah ha!” A dark sliver of cloth peeked out from the soil. I yanked it out, shaking the dirt from it’s fibers before holding it up to the light. From the size and shape, I knew it was a handkerchief. The material was similar to that of the ring in my pocket. An absurdly deep shade of black that shimmered ever so slightly.

“Why not? He deserves it.” “Because,” she said, looking up at him with concern in her pretty, hazel eyes, “you’ll hurt your hands.” She grabbed a tall, crystal vase off a nearby end table and shoved it into his chest. “Use this instead.” Brian grinned and lifted the vase in one hand, testing its weight. “You sure? This is a really nice vase. It’s also heavy. Potentially lethal.” He glanced at Jeremy, satisfied to see fear in his eyes. Brian shifted his gaze to the flowers littering the floor by the door. “And you have some nice flowers over there that someone—not me, once again—delivered personally…”

Making her way across the flagstones to the first booth, she admired the long, beautiful braids of orange, yellow, green, black and scarlet dried peppers, garlic and onions, and savored the scent of wreaths and bundles of sage, lavender and bay leaf, as well as herbs she didn’t recognize. Smiling with delight, she picked up a bottle of vinegar packed with artfully arranged slices of clove pierced lemons, and another of herbs, garlic and chilies, admiring the pretty tones of the liquid. Then a two foot high bottle of kumquat vinegar caught her eye, and she knew she had to have it. “It would make a beautiful living room decoration,” she told her husband with excitement. “Can we get it?” Keilor
