Dark Water
Lloyd frowned and reached into the gap, pulling out, with some effort, a small square box, the hinges rusted but holding themselves together by luck alone.
"What is this?" Lloyd carefully put the box down. All around him the shadows swelled, as if reaching for the find, withdrawing as they came within touching distance. His eyes widened in confusion as he cracked the lid, turning slightly to avoid the age-old dust that gratefully escaped.
Inside lay a locket. The silver was dull from years of being neglected and hidden from view. The chain was fragile and looked as if it could barely support the oval charm.
