Instead, she was draped in a sheer, transparent robe that left absolutely nothing to the imagination. The firelight from the hearth licked at the curves of her body, casting long, honeyed shadows over skin that had been oiled to a shimmer. "What the hell are you doing in my office, Adeline?" I asked, my voice dropping into a dangerous, low register. “And in that?”

But Marcus just laughed, a cold, mirthless sound that sent shivers down her spine. "Adeline!" a voice echoed, The sound of the voice was like a lifeline to Adeline, a beacon of hope in the midst of her terror. She opened her eyes, her gaze scanning the darkness for the source of the voice. "Adeline!" the voice called out again, louder this time. ****

Adeline blinked, rubbing her eyes. “Odette… you’re home already?” she asked, yawning. “Yes! How long have you been here? Why didn’t you call me first?” Odette asked. “I came from the supermarket… and I forgot my phone,” Adeline replied, her eyes filled with sadness. Odette frowned. “Adeline… are you in trouble?” Adeline nodded. “Then tell me. What happened?” Without saying a word, Adeline suddenly wrapped her arms around Odette, holding her tightly. She broke down, tears pouring out as the fear she had been holding in finally spilled free.

Her eyes met the familiar layout of a ceiling, causing a furrow in between her brows. How cruel. Locking her in her own pack's cell—well played. "L—Lady Adeline?" a timid voice sounded from nowhere.
