The building was still as cold as they remembered. The corridors were silent to death. Dim lights add to the chillness of the walls. A certain odour lingered in the dark holes in the walls. It was a castle. But it seemed like nobody lived in it. A faint hint of blood entered Max's nostrils and he held his breath. It burnt his inside.

A short while later, Lacey's shrill voice pierced my eardrums. "What do you mean by this? Are you toying with me? Was it that bitch who told you to say this to me?"

The horizon was a jagged smear of charcoal gray and bruised violet. For three years, I had walked toward it, guided by nothing but the rumors whispered in the hushed, terrified voices of dying scavengers. They spoke of a place that held the line, a fortress of humanity amidst the rotting sprawl of the walking dead. They called it "Haven."

Father then recited spell after spell, and was greeted by the sect members who repeated the incantation while raising their hands and walking around them. I will discuss it with you tonight over dinner and as for tomorrow and the day afterward you need to enjoy." He put his hand around me and squeeze it. Shawn let out a sigh "okay, will talk with Colby then. See you tomorrow" he wave goodbye and drive away. I turn to go inside the house when I catch something moving fast from the corner of my eye.
