"I will never bake you a birthday cake again, Morgan. Your birthday has nothing to do with me anymore."
His lips trembled, and he looked as though he had something to tell me.
I continued, "I only came here today to see the ending with my own eyes. I wanted to see what a person who doesn't know how to appreciate what they have, who tramples on someone else's sincerity, looks like in the end. Now, I've seen it."
I spun on my heel and walked toward the door.
