"Sometimes," he murmured as he reopened his book, "the first step toward healing is simply choosing not to stop."

I press the letter to my chest and I feel the heart thump against the paper like a reply. "I don't know your name as I write this. I don't know your face. But I know you needed a heart and I have one to give, and honestly that's a better love story than most people get. My heart is stubborn, that’s a fair warning. It beats faster when it's angry and slower when it's near lavender and it has a terrible habit of falling in love with people who don't know what to do with love. That might be my fault. Or it might just be the heart. Either way, it's yours now. So make sure you appreciate it and treat it better than I did."

“Do you realize what you’re asking of me? I’ve spent years running. Hiding. Afraid. And now you want me to step into your world, to trust you with everything?” “Yes.” His answer was simple, but heavy. Her breath caught. That way, you can fulfill all of your promises.” “Okay, ma'am.” I responded and watched her leave the room. I looked at the books on the table and grabbed one and started to read it page by page. It had a lot to deal with ingredients that could heal common illnesses. As I continued to flip through the pages, I got hooked on the book and continued to read. Before I knew it, It was nighttime. I moved to the other book and as I looked through it, I saw that it was about how a human could harbour demonic powers.

“A promise is a promise.” I didn’t press further. Instead, I carefully unbuttoned his shirt. He was so thin I could see the faint outline of his heart pulsing beneath his ribs. Whatever internal damage he carried, it had been there for a long time. I placed my palm gently on his abdomen and let my healing energy flow into him. At first, Bennet winced and tensed, but as the warmth of my power spread through his body, his face softened in disbelief. His breathing slowed. I could feel the ancient wounds mending beneath his skin—deep, resistant injuries that clung to him like a curse.

He had no feelings, only desires, sensations, attraction, and the pleasure of satisfying what a woman's body could offer. Now, he felt a need for her that he could only imagine was what they called passion or even love, but he couldn't have her, and she would belong to someone else, legally, physically, and emotionally. And it is just then, I see Jamie appearing at the street opposite to mine. Yet, she is cuddled in another man’s arms, crying.

"Phew! that was a close call, but damn! I thought Melissa was dumb but she's so wicked just like dad and her mom, all this while I was jealous of Harry Potter for talking to snakes but I never knew I'd been doing same all my life" I thought
