I cradled her securely against me as I carried her upstairs to our bedroom. I laid her carefully across the bed before pulling a chair beside her. Despite her uneven breathing, she was still conscious enough to look at me with fear in her eyes. I took both her hands in mine and closed my eyes. Healing was one of the oldest gifts possessed by spirit wolves, but it demanded precision. It wasn't enough to flood a body with power. The energy had to seek every wound, repair damaged tissue, strengthen failing organs, and drive out whatever threatened the life within.

The engagement ring shimmered under the light. "Why is this still on my finger?" I whispered. Before Michael could speak, Maria chuckled, shaking her head like she had been waiting for this moment. "Oh, Brenda," He sighed dramatically, giving Maria a smirk. "Do you even look at yourself in the mirror when you wake up? Babe, you’ll be twenty-seven this year. You’re not as fresh and beautiful as you think." He scoffed, eyes gleaming with cruelty. "I’m actually doing you a favor. You’re outdated, Brenda. It’s time to wake up."

"When will we know it’s safe to touch her without destroying her?" "When she chooses us," I said, with a certainty that burned. "Only then." He watched as I took his place. As I kissed her. I screamed at the orderly who was running after the stretcher. “He had a concussion.” “Oh my God. This is bad.” My board slipped through my fingers but I didn't bother for it. “Hey Adam, can you hear me?” I grabbed the side of the gurney and ran after it. I reached for his hand and squeezed. “Adam, I need you to stay awake for me.” His eyes fluttered open for a second and immediately shut down again. We burst through the theater doors. The light was blinding for a second and I winced at how bright it was.

Eldon commanded, giving her a sympathetic look while holding the crystal out between the body and soul. "Please don't do this, Eldon! I'm begging you!" She crouched next to the body. How terribly sad… She looks like she could cry at any second. "I'm so sorry Karen… But you're not done growing yet." She bowed her head for a moment and then nodded in defeat. In the blink of an eye, the soul vanished, and the crystal in his hand shone with a bright purple light for a few seconds, then faded altogether. She disappeared. "Excellent! Let me heal your wounds now… Healing Serenity." All of the wounds vanished in a few seconds. "Now, Soul Revival!" Eldon said, tossing the crystal towards the body.

I murmur encouragements softly, letting my voice guide him as much as the needles and herbs. Finally, I feel it, the moment when the physical healing is done. But his eyes are haunted. The damage is more than skin deep. His soul is fractured from violence, rejection, and fear. I close my eyes and extend my aura, carefully threading it into his essence, filling voids, reinforcing walls, offering comfort. The teens watch, wide-eyed, as the faint shimmer of my energy brushes over him like sunlight through leaves.

I was afraid of what I might have created… To understand what's going on, I need to find Evelara first. But where? Where did she go? My gaze sharply went through the maps spread across the table. Borders, territories, ancient paths. I leaned over them, searching for something, anything. Just a clue and that's all. And then I saw it… Healing Soul Tribe. A thread I had overlooked until now. He talked about the villages he passed through and the people who had helped him, and it was clear that he had worked hard to get her back. "She is a soul healer, too," Cade added, turning his head toward Liam. I froze for a second, and I saw Liam’s eyes snap to hers. We were both surprised to hear that. I was a healer, but I was only good at the physical aspect of medicine. I could stitch a wound and brew a tea for a fever, but souls were a completely different thing. Soul healing was rare and difficult, and it required a level of empathy that most people couldn't handle.
