Project Heartbreak
His thumb brushed gently over my cheekbone, a soft, stroking caress.
I couldn’t breathe. My hands, acting on their own, came up. One settled over his, holding it against my face. The other came to rest on his chest, right over his heart. I could feel the strong, steady beat through the soft cotton of his shirt. Thump-thump. Thump-thump.
“Elliot,” he breathed, my name a sigh. He leaned in, his forehead almost touching mine. “You called. How could I not come?”
