Heat and Rut
as the heat made my head spin.
I heard footsteps outside my door, and my heart raced. “Delilah?” Matthew’s voice came through, sounding weird, like he was struggling. “You okay in there?”
“No,” I said, my voice shaky. “I’m not okay. Stay away, Matthew.”
“What’s wrong?” he said, knocking. “Open the door.”
“I can’t,” I said, leaning against the wall, moaning, “Ohh, fuck.” My scent was everywhere, and I knew he could smell it. “It’s my heat. It’s bad.”
