The air at the edge of the western reservoir didn’t just burn; it felt like inhaling liquid glass. We had reached the true heart of the Western Rift’s geothermal network—a colossal, subterranean sea of pressurized, black water trapped beneath a massive, arched ceiling of weeping granite. Giant, rusted iron sluice gates, forged generations ago by the first northern packs, groaned under the immense hydrostatic pressure of the boiling depths behind them. If those gates failed before Vance’s teams secured the catalyst charges, the entire boiling sea would sweep down into the lower valleys, drowning our newly unified capital in a scalding deluge.

I questioned looking at my father. "Most of them were filled with cement. There was a section that we kept accessible in case a time ever came that we found ourselves in a war again," he explained shaking his head. "Where's the tunnel?" Arrow snarled. His eyes were pitch black. "Tell me now!" he roared. "The garden on the west side of town. The statue of your great great grandfather is the door. Pull his left arm down and turn his right arm to the opposite side and the statue will move allowing entrance into the tunnels." He looked angry and I guessed it was at himself.

From the constant miserable situations they have faced, he needs reprieve. “Many are drowned by pride, make sure you won’t become one of them.” Huzefa smirked when they reached a twenty feet tall gate. A devil’s face was carved on it with metal but the clear stains of fresh blood was tainting its tongue, indicating the entrance towards hell. “Well. This is where I leave but our paths will surely collide again.” Huzefa smirked, definitely a devilish one but they didn’t trust him in the first place. “Hey, Huzefa…” Vera called, coming closer towards the gates.

“You’re probably right. It’s just… she’s been down here a lot longer than we have been. She could be anywhere by now.” “That was the doorway that leads to hell,” Jo said, thinking aloud. “But I don’t think we’re actually in hell yet. After all, Holland is most definitely in hell, and if it was so simple for her to just walk through that doorway back into the portals, she’d be out of here in a few moments. So there has to be some other barrier between hell and where we are.” “Either that or it’s just so horrible in hell, you can’t even move enough to make it to this walkway,” Zane said with a shrug.

“We need to go to the Garden.” The Garden was the middle point, where the souls wake up and have their eternal fates decided by the angels or demons who brought their souls from the living world to the afterlife. It only made sense that it would be the place for a battle to take place. Hermes would use the portal to get from Heaven to the Garden, then use another to get from the Garden to Hell with the device that will supposedly cleanse my father’s soul, the angels and demons will each use said portals to reach the Garden and their fight will take place there.

I also notice the heat doesn't seem to bother Davin, we can now see the glowing metal of the gates of Hell, as I ask. "Are you ready to do this? " They both nod there heads as Davin pulls us into him somehow managing to protect from the heat as we walk through the flaming gates of Hell.

I see the entrance to the pack hidden behind the lodge with a gate signed ‘Private Property’ and a man sitting in a booth, I pull up and state our names, he makes a call and opens the gate for us. Driving through the forest slowly I take in my surroundings as does Uhtred then all of a sudden, the song ‘Highway to hell by ACDC’ plays and I can’t help but laugh, it’s to ironic. Uhtred gives me a worried look as I continue to laugh pulling up to the packhouse. “This is it bro we are officially in Hell my own personal Hell.” With a deep breath I turn off my car and open my door.

Kent nodded as he went to his room to prepare for his sentence, in the ancient doctrine the Hell’s gate is a trial of strength at the same time a death sentence for many knights. Chimera immediately went to his library and read through the history of Hell’s gate as it said in the tomes of the past. The Hell’s gate was older than time itself, many scholars believed that the gate was made by a powerful being that destroyed the Heavens and the Void. A being so powerful that all records of the monster and why the gate was made were removed as even mentioning the name of the beast would invite the end of all things.
